Our student body comprises many different faiths, and we welcome families of all religions to Lake Highland Preparatory School. We deeply believe each student is a unique child of God, and every child can thrive in an atmosphere of love, concern, and mutual respect.

At LHPS, we teach nine tenets of Christianity, which we believe are widely accepted values by people of many faiths. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul refers to these attributes as the Fruit of the Spirit. We include these ideals in our daily instruction as a major component of instilling Christian values in our students, which is the first pillar of our mission statement.

To create a culture where students respect and understand different religions, our teachers and staff strive to personify the nine attributes of the Fruit of the Spirit. When we see students display these attributes through his or her actions, we recognize them and award them with a special button, so they may tell others about their action. Weaving the Fruit of the Spirit into our culture helps us cultivate our students’ character and develop them as compassionate, empathetic, and courageous leaders.

Our students’ academic foundation is established as they acquire knowledge and skills; that foundation is extended in dynamic classrooms where they learn to inquire, explore, discover, observe, and collaborate.

Lake Highland’s dedicated faculty members carefully plan and lead the rigorous and flexible curriculum for Pre-K through 12th-grade students. Our unique academic continuum spans 14 years, and it offers an exciting array of college preparatory opportunities. Our students grow and develop their love of learning as they acquire confidence in their abilities and skills, and as they develop strategies for success in college and life.

The technology industry has matured in many exciting ways bringing to our lives efficiencies and capabilities that not too long ago were only dreams. The delivery of educational experiences and resources are also rapidly changing as new technologies integrate and intersect in myriad ways in schools, colleges and industry. To optimize the widespread development of cloud based technologies and other advanced educational delivery methods, beginning in the fall of 2018 Upper School students will use laptops daily in their classes for the most contemporary relevant learning. Complex research, collaborative projects, entrepreneurial efforts and advanced production rely on efficient and robust learning tools. Specialized classes and student passions such as robotics, video production, academic and problem solving competition, computer science and more are also supported at Lake Highland with emerging technologies.

Our team of Technology Integration Specialists, forward thinking teachers and our Technology Department support and guide our technology application and vision. In pursuit of an exceptional learning experience that prepares our students for their future, our teachers deliberately choose classroom strategies that incorporate the most relevant and efficient technology resources. It is an exciting and creative time to teach!
