The aim of Ysgol Beca is to establish a lively, nurturing, supportive and traditionally Welsh environemnt which encourages each individual to reach their full potetial educationally, creatively, physically and emotionally.
We aim to prepare each child to be a valued member of the modern society and will ensure education of the highest standard through varied experiences in order to enhance the life choices of all who are members of the school's community.
The school was opened in September, 1972. It was built as an area school in the village of Efailwen. The village is in Carmarthenshire and stands approximately a mile and a half from the Cleddau river which is on the border between Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Ysgol Beca is a primary school around 60 pupils between the ages of 3 and a half and 11 years old, who come from areas such as Llanglydwen, Hebron, Login, Glandy Cross and Llangolman. Ysgol Beca is a Welsh medium school where the majority of the curriculum is delivered in the Welsh language. English is introduced at year 3 (7 years old). The everyday language of the school is Welsh.
This is an exciting time for the young people of Wales. A new Curriculum for Wales is coming that will enthuse and inspire learners from 3 to 16, giving them the foundations they need to succeed in an ever changing world. The Minister for Education and Skills has announced that the Welsh Government will accept, in full, all of the recommendations set out in Successful Futures, Professor Graham Donaldson’s independent review of the curriculum and assessment arrangements in Wales.
