The school was officially opened in September 2011 and as the school grows we have established a firm foundation for the future. Since September 2015 we have settled into our wonderful new school and there are now over 200 pupils on roll. We are currently planning the construction and development of the new child care facility which will be opening at the beginning of 2021, allowing eligible parents access to 30 hours’ free child care through the medium of Welsh .

Our school motto translates as "Growing and Succeeding Together" which emphasises the importance of team work which is central to the school's ethos and philosophy. It is vital therefore that we communicate regularly and effectively for the benefit of our children. From time to time you may have some questions or concerns so please don't be afraid to get in touch .

Our school receives a very small PDG grant, which is aimed at supporting children who are eligible for Free School Meals (eFSM). At Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant , we are using this grant to provide support for interventions to develop pupils' emotional literacy (ELSA).

We are a “Healthy School” and in line with Welsh Government’s “Appetite for Life” pupils in The Foundation Phase are given milk each day and have a healthy snack. We also offer milk to pupils in KS2 at a cost of £1 a week. Those who do not like milk are welcome to drink water. We kindly ask for a £1 donation towards snacks for the pupils to be paid termly via Parent Pay. More details once your child starts with us. We do not allow crisps, biscuits, sweets or chocolate as a break time snack, but we do encourage the children to have “water on desks”.

Our aim is to ensure that all pupils are given the opportunity to learn to speak Welsh fluently and apply their skills across the curriculum in order to ultimately become confident and articulate when using more than one language. Our curriculum also allows pupils to become familiar with other cultures and develop an awareness of global citizenship.
