Whitefield Academy

Whitefield Academy, a Christ-centered college preparatory school, exists to bolster Christian families in rearing young people who go on to college and life with a passion for learning, for others ahead of self, and for the living and active Jesus. Whitefield Academy strengthens the intellect so students gain more than basic knowledge - they gain understanding and wisdom. Students learn to think and reason well, read closely, write persuasively and solve challenging and complex problems.

A school’s core business is to strengthen the intellect. However, a school that fails to provide a well-rounded experience is incomplete, because experience drives character. Students at Whitefield discover, develop, and maximize a wide variety of gifts in athletics and the arts. Learning is enriched through relationships among a diverse student body, and students learn to lead by serving “others ahead of self.” All of these experiences contribute to an enriched life. At Whitefield, outstanding academic success is achieved by inspiring young people to excel through experiential and analytic learning as well as through instruction and mentoring by exemplary Christian teachers. This inspiration creates a more engaged student - one who is better prepared for college and life after college. Students receive focused instruction in an environment in which they are challenged and supported by their peers and teachers. With a small teacher-to-student ratio, each student receives the individualized attention and the personalized rigor he or she needs to exceed. A wide range of academic courses - including 31 AP and Honors classes - as well as leadership opportunities, college and career counseling, and countless field trips around Atlanta and around the world create an environment full of opportunities.

The results have been impressive. The middle 50 percent of SAT scores at Whitefield Academy range between 215 and 615 points higher than the Georgia average. The Class of 2015 earned $7.7 million in scholarships and grants through academics, athletics, and fine arts. At Whitefield, the emphasis on academics stems only from the deeper foundation and search for truth, knowledge, and wisdom.

Young students are introduced formally to technology through a computer class in the third and fourth grades. During fifth and sixth grades, technology is incorporated into classroom learning through use of the mobile Chrome Book cart as well as more directly through a sixth grade computer rotation course. Seventh through twelfth grades participate in the BYOL program with integration of technology throughout the curriculum. Upper School course offerings include computer science, AP computer science, theater tech, innovation class, and graphic design. A robotics club meets on Wednesday mornings and multiple robotics camps are offered through the summer program.
