Rosemary Hall Montessori applies Dr Maria Montessori's Philosophy and Methods to provide a child an Education for Life.

Montessori Methods in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Literacy, Numeracy and Cultural are ingeniously and scientifically created by Dr Maria Montessori, who was a trained physician, through a deep understanding of chldren's mind and behaviour.

Study has shown that children going through Montessori are better in their Language and Mathematics as compared to the traditional method.

After children are familiar with using concrete materials of Language and Mathematics to learn by doing, they will be trained in the abstract format to prepare them for their future education beyond Montessori.

The environment that the child is in determines to a large extent the child's personality, the learning style and pace of learning amongst other things. This sense of self-concept and self-worth the child has of himself or herself and the socio-cultural context is unique to each child. An understanding of this diversity forms the very basis of developing an engaging and motivating environment for children wherein they can develop holistically.

Learning in the early childhood years is a process of construction and co-construction wherein a child should be at his or her own pace. Discovery learning that is open-ended and initiated by the child and integrated by the adult engages the child in meaningful pursuits that focus on the process and not the product of learning. Each child has a unique set of values and theories and discussions between children and adults help children to reflect upon themselves and integrate well with their social environment.

Play based learning that solicits a child's active engagement helps the child to scaffold to the next level of learning. It allows the child freedom to discover himself and his abilities and demonstrates his learning style and pace. It provides educators an opportunity to observe and understand the child better. Also since children are visual and sensorial learners, knowledge of arts, language, numeracy should be initiated through visually intense and action oriented activities.

The physical and the human environment is the third teacher and helps to build the foundation of children's character. It forms the basis of positive experiences. The learning condition should therefore be a nurturing, motivating and inclusive democratic set-up that provides equal opportunities regardles of societal biases. It should encourage reflective listening and responses. This helps foster healthy self-concepts in the child and forms the basis for the relationships he forges in the future. The physical surrounding should be designed to cater to sense of curiousity, creativity and exploration in the thinking child.

Parents know more about their children by virtue of being their primary caregiver. It is also important to recognize that the family and school constitute the primary environment where the child learns and develops. Hence it is integral to the learning process that we model it based on an assessment of each child in the context of his fiamily and surrounding environment. Concerted efforts should be made to balance cultural differences and communicate effectively with parents while being sensitive to their background, language and social context.

Rosemary Hall classes are designed to ensure that fundamental education is provided in the morning session. The morning session includes, Montessori, Chinese, Thematic and Play periods. Children who attend half-day sessions will be provided sufficient holistic education.

The afternoon sessions are aimed at providing children with a very well rounded education as well as going very indepth into preparing children for the main stream school. Many children have achieved tremendous results through very dedicated teachers giving very close attention to children's learning abilities and needs.

Rosemary Hall admits children of any economic and social class, racial and ethnic heritage, religious belief and family structure. The following is the recommended Admissions Procedure.

You will be contacted by a member of our admissions office and advised on the availability of space for the enrolment day of your choosing and the applicable fees for the program. If there is available space, you will be sent an enrolment form. If there is no available space for the Semester of your choosing, your child will be placed on the waitlist upon request.

Complete the enrolment form and send it to the school with copies of your child’s birth certificate and both parents’ Singapore NRIC cards, PR Cards, or Passports if foreign. Should you withdraw your child at least 4 weeks before his start date, your entire deposit will be refunded to you, but not the registration fee.

If you are placing your child on a waitlist, you will need to pay a waitlist deposit to hold your place until your child begins school with us as well as a registration fee. The waitlist deposit will be counted towards your first month school fees when your child begins his or her classes; should you withdraw your child before the chosen start date at the school, the waitlist fee will be forfieted. The registration fee is non-refundable.

A parent might also choose an interview with the Principal and/ or class teachers, the aim of which is to develop a relationship with the school that is fundamental to the continued involvement of the parent in his child’s education.
