Hi-5 House of Learning

Hi-5 television series has been educating children through since 1998 with our dynamic cast of five.

Children of all ages love learning with the Hi-5 cast through a series of fun and energetic music and movement activities, exploration of fun topics and expression through a vibrant mix of investigation and imagination. Having successfully educated children through fun and play, Hi-5 has reached over 10,000,000 children across Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America! Now, Hi-5 has it’s very own Preschool.

The Hi-5 House of Learning curriculum draws on the strengths of the show and allow young children to learn through music and engaging activities, resulting in high academic outcomes. Our Hi-5 education facilitators have developed a curriculum for preschoolers using Movement, Music, Creativity and Thinking to educate young children.

Children learn best through active involvement in a wide variety of activities and experiences where they are given the opportunity to make meaning, develop understanding and explore possibilities leading to further learning.

Hi-5 is an exceptional Early Childhood Learning program. Using technology and lesson delivery methods innovatively, Hi-5 epitomises the learning and teaching principles and characteristics that underpin outstanding cognitive, social, physical and academic gains. It embeds the latest scientific knowledge of attributes children need to facilitate the development of higher-order thinking skills. The Hi 5 program is broad based and meets all the educational, social and creative needs of children in order to excel. These are developed through a sound curriculum, qualified teachers, ongoing teacher training, and high quality pedagogy. At the same time, children are engaged, happy and enthusiastic participants in their own learning.

Hi-5 House of Learning provides a supportive and positive environment to ensure children make the transition to preschool and independence smoothly. In LOVE our teachers help the children develop through experiences focussed on developing self awareness, identity, well-being, communication and connection.

Hi-5 House of Learning provides an environment where your children are able to explore, investigate and initiate their own learning through our play-based, child-centred program. In SKOW teachers help the children develop their self-management skills through activities designed to promote self-regulation, empowering them to think, question and build knowledge, curiosity and creativity.

One Step Forward students at Hi-5 House of Learning learn through child-centred and intentional teaching activities which extend children’s developing cognitive capacity and self-regulation skills. In-depth exploration of our inquiry topics and child led investigations are regular learning events in OSF while still being delivered through active learning.

The focus for WUAS students at Hi-5 House of Learning is on the transition to ‘big’ school and the academic skills that are needed to transition successfully. Therefore it is more formalised than the other classes with reading, phonics, writing and applying mathematics skills as needed at school, dominating the programme. Children still engage in self-directed activities in which creativity is promoted through drama, role play and music as these are important skills ensuring children are able to transfer the skills used in those activities to problem solve and think.

The focus for WOW students at Hi-5 House of Learning is focussed on the consolidation of skills learnt so far, and the expansion and development of them for academic purposes. Children will be guided to become managers of their own learning, using resources, teachers and their own thinking skills to further their own learning. Student-directed play in which creativity is promoted will be encouraged through drama, imaginative play and music as these are important skills ensuring children are able to transfer the skills used in those activities to think, question and problem solve.

Children will be provided with experiences and support which will help them to develop self-regulation; a positive sense of themselves and of others, as well as a positive disposition to learn. Teachers will support the development of children’s emotional well-being to help them to know themselves—what they can do to understand the benefits and joy of friendships and relationships.

Children will build knowledge, skills and understanding that help them to make sense of and contribute to their world. Their learning will be supported through opportunities for them to use a range of tools and materials safely; encounter creatures, plants and objects in their natural environments and in real-life situations; undertake practical experiments and work with a range of materials.
