The Christ College curriculum is carefully structured to provide a balance of subjects and to allow individuals to play to their academic strengths.

Our school motto which is translated into English from Latin, means ‘They achieve because they believe they can’ and this remains as true of today’s pupils as it has been throughout the history of the school; developing personal confidence and the willingness to take on new experiences and challenges are among the core aims of the school.

One of the most special things about Christ College is the warmth of the welcome here and the quality of relationships between pupils and staff in its Junior and Senior Schools. Our community is a small, caring and compassionate one, where pupils learn to value kindness and service to others.

Our dedicated teachers are committed to far more than helping our pupils achieve their academic potential, they are also passionate about their character development, encouraging them to achieve their goals and to grow into confident and accomplished adults.

Our creative arts pupils have the advantage of studying in inspiring departments. Our art pupils gain inspiration in the beautiful listed building that overlooks the River Usk, while our photography pupils have full access to two fully-equipped and specially adapted studios, a dark room and a classroom furnished with MAC computers. Drama is located at the heart of the school with a modern theatre comprising of 300 seats, and a drama studio and exhibition gallery to ensure the talents of the Creative Arts pupils are appreciated by all.

Outside of the classroom, we enjoy taking our pupils on many stimulating trips to help boost their studies. Trips have included annual trips to London as well as overseas visits to Prague, Barcelona and the opportunity to perform at the Basilica of St Peter in the Vatican.

Pupils studying English at Christ College will not only develop the core communication, comprehension and empathetic skills that are essential to life, but they will also gain a lasting love of reading and discussing literature.

Through our teaching we aim to equip our students with the reading and writing skills needed for other subjects, as well as analytical skills to engage critically with the wide variety of texts that they read.

We offer our pupils a range of humanities subjects to help them gain a vast knowledge of how the world works, while building key skills such as how to read and write in a creative, critical and logical way.

Pupils studying one of the humanities subjects at Christ College will not only gain a range of valuable skills that can be used after education but will receive a hands-on learning experience to help enhance their studies.
