When children enter this school they are active and curious about the world they live in, and they will be at quite different stages of physical and mental development. Parental support and involvement is vital especially in these “Early Years.” The school is essentially a Christian school with all that this implies; caring, kindness, mutual respect and self-discipline are all central to the ethos of the school. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian Values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.

The school has an industrious and friendly atmosphere in which your child will learn and work and find security. Although children are taught in classes or groups, each one, to us is an individual. We pride ourselves on the high standards achieved here, across the curriculum. This is verified by the quality of the children’s work, by their attitude and by their achievements. To achieve this we rely upon close co-operation between home and school.

A church school develops a distinctive Christian character, through its religious education, collective worship and ethos, which makes God’s love and presence made known to the world. Our school is a place of mission and witness to the gospel. Our Mission Statement is reflected in the curriculum and the daily life of the school.

Education is for life. The school is part of this process, in which it is our aim to nurture, guide, encourage and provide experiences for our pupils in an atmosphere of love, acceptance and security with the co-operation of parents, staff and governors. This is a Church-in-Wales School which has a particular concern for children’s social, spiritual and personal needs. The School, founded in 1857, is a Church School within the Llandaff Diocesan Council for Education.

It is a primary school of the Church-in-Wales within the Anglican Communion of aided status: that is to say that religious teaching is given within the school according to the doctrine, beliefs and practices of the Anglican Church. Instruction is given to the children on the principles of the Christian Faith as part of the school’s curriculum.

The school is a modern, purpose-built, semi-open plan primary school. Classes are organised in single-age and mixed-age groups. Parents considering sending their children to the school are invited to visit the school by appointment with the headteacher.
