Rain Trees, established here in Singapore in 1999, is an independent, international kindergarten, nursery & preschool that provides a fun, friendly and challenging environment for children in the age range of 2-6. Our parents and children are mainly from the international community in Singapore.
Our aim to help each individual child enjoy learning in a safe and caring environment and as they progress through the school we prepare them for a seamless transition to an international school.
Rain Trees has always been been owned and managed by a combination of British and Singapore citizens. Over time we have modified the British based curriculum to meet the particular demands and needs of the international expatriate community in the Asia Pacific region. In addition to offering a modern topic based curriculum Rain Trees is noted for its small and family orientated environment which many parents prefer to be their child’s first school experience.
At Rain Trees, the emphasis is on learning through play in an environment planned to stimulate independence, discovery and social interaction. Children are encouraged to help themselves and take initiative in order to develop self-esteem, social competence and become increasingly independent.
The learning and development of the children is not restricted to the internal setting of the classroom but extends to our large and safe outdoor play area. We view the external environment as another classroom. This allows the children to explore their surroundings and exercise their imagination.
All of the staff & management are committed to the continual development of the kindergarten – both in terms of constantly reviewing the curriculum and investing in the school’s education resources & physical infrastructure so that they can provide the best educational environment for the children.
Originally called Lock Road, and based in Lock Road, the school was recently renamed Rain Trees after its successful relocation to 60 Kheam Hock Road, just off Bukit Timah Road.
Rain trees with their large canopies, can be found all over Singapore and have been described by the botanical gardens as the “signature tree” of Singapore. The botanical gardens in Singapore, which is less than 1km from the school, has a heritage rain tree with a girth of 5m and more than 30m tall.
The name Rain Trees was chosen to reflect the school’s deep roots in Singapore and our goal of nurturing each child so they can grow to their full potential. We are also lucky that our current location has some splendid Rain trees.
The school is a detached property spread over 3 floors and on almost 10,000 square feet of land. We are lucky to have a large and safe garden area. An outdoor wooden house has been built – and is very popular with the children. The school retains a small and friendly feel and has a maximum capacity for 80 children.
Rain Trees follows an international topic based curriculum that focuses on the development of the whole child using a multi-sensory approach. Our children learn through hands on, exploration and play. Our highly qualified teachers ensure that all our children reach developmental milestones through a fun and interactive approach to learning. Group and individual activities are blended to provide a balance of skills and experience for your child.
Our approach is to foster a love of learning, problem solving, experimentation and inquisitiveness to provide a solid foundation for your child’s future. The emphasis is on learning through play in an environment planned to stimulate discovery, independence and social interaction. Children are encouraged to help themselves, take initiative and become increasingly independent in order to develop self-esteem and social competence. It is important that children develop a sense of trust and are comfortable in their environment.
The learning and development of the children is not just confined to the internal setting of the kindergarten but is extended to the large and safe outdoor play area. We view the external environment as another classroom. This allows the children to explore their surroundings and exercise their imagination.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Our daughter attended RainTrees for 2.5 years; the hardest thing was leaving when it was time to move on to 'Big School'!. Raintrees has such a lovely 'feel', it's friendly and welcoming (for the parents not just the children) and the children have formed bonds that last beyond their days with you at RainTrees. We are immensely grateful to RainTrees for the amazing start it has given our daughter in her relationship with education. Our daughter settled in so fast she didn’t look back (it was us who were emotional!). We watched her confidence soar. Her teachers have been beyond amazing and her time at RainTrees has positively fuelled her curiosity and enjoyment of learning; she always seemed to be having so much fun we were amazed at how much she absorbed (and as parents we had immense fun too joining as ‘mystery reader’ cooking, school trips and sports day). The teachers' genuine care and strong relationship with the children really made me trust that my daughter was in the very best of hands. I can't thank you enough for the great start and support you have given our daughter (and us!). Now we are at 'big school' we have become even more aware of how brilliantly RainTrees has prepared our daughter for her education ahead; she loves learning and the foundation put in place by Miss Gail has definitely stood her in excellent stead.

Raintrees is a wonderful nursery, my Son is so happy there and asks every day if he “is going to nursery today”, even on on weekends! The staff are so welcoming, very professional and highly experienced. The children are very happy and always have a wonderful time. We have been delighted with Raintrees for our little boy. Thank you Raintrees.

Raintrees has a very natural, cosy community vibe. All staff are very supportive and experienced with helping children transition in to school life and resolving adjustment issues. It has been a wonderful start to school life for my child and I would (and do) recommend the school to everyone.

Raintrees is a happy and caring Kindergarten. The teachers are fantastic and the classrooms and garden space are perfect for the children. Our son has been incredibly happy at Raintrees and we couldn't recommend it enough to other families.

We are so happy with our choice to send our boys to Raintrees. They are learning wonderful skills in socialising with their friends and can even sing in Mandarin! The boys wake up and love going to kindergarten in the morning, which for us is the best measure!

Rain Trees is an amazing nursery. My daughter, who is very timid by nature, started Butterflies in September and Miss Vicki, Miss Mel and Miss Winnie have been excellent in helping her settle. They have done a fantastic job creating a nurturing environment for her to thrive in.

As an expat, going on someone else’s recommendation, I could not have made a better decision for my child and his introduction to schooling and education. I really can’t say enough about the lovely lovely, dedicated team of professionals at Rain Trees. They far exceeded my expectations. They’re like family.

I had both my kids here, and loved it. Made it easy for us to meet a lot of amazing parents and kids. The school has such a home feel, and values a play based routine. It would be worth your time to visit this places.
