English for Academic Purposes

There are 5 general English courses or levels. These range from pure beginner, someone with no English language experience, to the advanced learner. Through a combination of in-class and independent study students will see improvement in their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. A placement exam determines your starting level. If becoming a full-time student at UMS is your goal, these courses can help you raise your level of English to meet the requirements for a degree program.

English Language Program (Full time)

This program is for pre tertiary level students looking to develop their English language proficiency to gain entry into an English undergraduate/graduate program. Students can sit for ITP/IBT TOEFL (UMS in collaboration with the Amideast) depending on the requirement of the respective university they wish to study. Those students who wish to pursue their higher studies at UMS can sit for institutional TOEFL at UMS.

English Language Program (Part time)

This program is suitable for professional level students aiming to study English to enhance their communication skills required for the higher studies. Students can sit for ITP/IBT TOEFL (UMS in collaboration with the Amideast) depending on the requirement of the respective university they wish to study. Those students who wish to pursue their higher studies at UMS can sit for the institutional TOEFL.
