
CACHE Level 1 Award in Caring for Children

These qualifications are suitable for 14-19 year olds as well as some adults or for learners where English is an additional language and are part of Foundation Learning (FL).
They are designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learners’ understanding of the skills required to care for children and allow Centres flexibility in their offering with a mix of vocational and PSD units.
They support the learner in preparing for the “next steps” either in training or moving towards the world of work, will be signposted to relevant NOS where applicable and will reflect the themes of Every Child Matters and Early Years Foundation.
Units covered
Entry requirements: Good command of basic written and spoken English and access to
Experience in the workplace: Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take these qualifications.
Workshop frequency: Once per week.
Duration: 8 weeks – three hour tutor led workshops supported by learners online study and assessment.
Placement hours: Optional Placement available at any of our BON branches.
Credits achieved in the Level 1 Award in Caring for Children can be counted towards the Certificate and the credits achieved in the Certificate can be counted towards the Diploma.
These qualifications also have some common units with the our Entry Level Award and Certificate in Caring for Children (Entry 3) and the Entry Level Award and Certificate in Personal and Social Development (Entry 3) and the Level 1 Award and Certificate in Personal and Social Development.
This enables credits and learning to be transferred between all the qualifications.
