This is a course which is designed to teach attendees about Hazardous and non-Hazardous Wastes, Hazardous Materials, the difference between the two, and the transportation of HAZMAT.  It will also teach the students about personal protection needed for handling either, the way to screen for Hazardous Wastes, and about Remediation and Emergency Response Planning and tools.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the differences between hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, solid waste and hazardous materials
  • Comply with the globally harmonized standards on and transportation and handling and packaging of hazardous materials
  • Provide and use various elements of personal protective equipment and how to respond to HAZMAT and HAZWASTE Spills, and remediate areas where spills have occurred,  hazardous materials are handled, identified, and human responses to exposure
  • Develop a health and safety plan, a spill control plan and set up responses to each type of plan
  • Plan and develop HAZMAT and HAZWASTE emergency management plans and the elements of a good response

This course is intended for those dealing with hazardous materials and chemicals in the workplace such as managers, engineers and other technical staff. This course is also suitable for health, safety and environmental (HSE) personnel.
