Water Flow Measurement & Control
Water flow measurements are essential for water distribution systems in order to provide customers billing as well as performing the required system balancing. Billing is required to enable proper control of operating cost of distribution systems. Balancing is required to identify leakage in the network.
Water flow measurements at the network source provide the inflow to the network. Meters at customers provide the demand. A balanced network means that inflow is equal to demand. However, due to leakage in the network, the billed flow rates are always less than the inflow to networks. Therefore, water flow metering is important to provide indications on the percentage of leakage.
Advanced flow measurement systems include automatic meter reading systems which facilitate the operation of the remote and accurate measurement and trending of the system demand and consumption. Therefore, it is essential for modern systems to include automatic meter reading systems as well.
