The university of Caen Normandy (UNICAEN) is a major player for Normandy higher education and research developments. UNICAEN is member of Normandie Université, a research and higher education cluster, gathering the universities of Caen, Rouen, Le Havre and the engineering schools of Caen (ENSICAEN) and Rouen (INSA).
The seaside, cross-channel exchanges and a direct link to Paris through a motorway access are many assets of the territory UNICAEN takes advantage of. UNICAEN offers a rich cultural programming and many attractive sporting activities. UNICAEN’s cultural heritage has recently been marked by worldwide international events, like the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landing and the Battle of Normandy and the World Equestrian Games in 2014.
The University of Caen Normandy has a student population of over 29,000 on 6 campuses in Caen and 5 more in the Normandy region at Cherbourg-Octeville, Alençon, Lisieux, Saint-Lô and Vire.
The university of Caen Normandy counts 40 libraries on all the Norman campuses. The Common Service of Documentation (SCD) offers students an access to online documentary resources (works, articles, journals).
Some libraries are open during long hours. These libraries are labelled “NoctamBU” by the ministry of higher education and research, because they fit to an international standard of offering at least 100 seats for at least 65 hours per week.
The University Service of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion (SUMPPS) offers a personalized welcome and solutions to all students who deals with medical problems: stress, fatigue, sleep disorders, weight problems, addictions… Every new student can access to a free preventive examination.
The SUAPS (University Service for Sports and Physical Activities) offers a tremendous catalogue of activities and sports equipment on campuses: a climbing wall, fitness centre, swimming pool… More than 60 sports and activities can be practiced by students during their school year.
The service also organises various training camps (skiing, scuba diving, wall climbing, paragliding, golf, hiking…) and events throughout the year.

Great campus, enjoyable summer and evening to arise in the grass, really cool :) I advise students this university and especially to Rouen (like me) who did not have the chance to study under favorable conditions: )

It's a good university. The teachers are great if we exclude the exceptions, the students communicate a lot between them. But the returns on the administration are very bad during registration and examination. The information circulates badly. But it is a very beautiful establishment, in renovation moreover, with structures adapted to the students. She sells dreams, less than she promises, but a little bit any good student.

Studying in Normandy has been a transformative experience; the faculty's dedication to student success truly shines, and I've watched my child flourish academically and personally.
