Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU), located at Nadiad, is one of the leading institutions of learning in Gujarat. Since inception in 1968 as an institute for higher education in technology and engineering by the then Member of Parliament, Shri Dharmsinh Dadubhai Desai, it is committed to grooming students for leadership roles in the society.

If you are at the cusp of taking a decision on the institute in which you wish to study, you have reached the right place.
Being chosen as the best regional university by the 'Oxford Summit of Leaders', an organisation in UK and felicitated for being in the 'Asia's 100 Best and Fastest Growing Educational Institutes 2014-15' by the WCRC Leaders Asian Education Excellence Summit & Awards, are some of the accolades the university has received. These testimonies are further strengthened by our healthy placement record and alumni spread across the globe in top companies. For a holistic growth of the students, we also organise sports meets, cultural events and community service programmes etc. Believe it or not, we also have a Guinness Book of World Record in our name.

We strongly believe in equipping our students to not only make a better life for themselves, but also make the world a better place to live. For that, the focus is on holistic education which includes theory sessions, practical knowledge, industry exposure, ethics communication, social activities, sports and cultural events.

Best-in-class curriculum and teaching approach:

  • Focus on imparting practical lessons to students
  • Teaching through live cases and projects
  • Special training to enhance presentation skills of students
  • Competence building programmes based on the learning ability of the students
  • Inculcating professionalism among students
  • Special management programmes for executives

The University shall undertake programmes and projects for development of human resources, both through formal and non-formal delivery systems, in areas of professional pursuits in all walks of human endeavours, with accent on relevance, value addition, societal needs and futuristic pilot projects.

Vision:

  • To become a multi-disciplined and learner-oriented university.
  • To closely associate with and responsive to the industry.
  • To create supportive and caring environment for staff and students.
  • To improve R&D activities in areas of national priority.

The University is for individuals who wish to advance in the workplace, and emerge as competent professionals and noble citizens. The University meets these needs by delivering applied and professional programmes, primarily at the graduate and higher level, that anticipate and respond to the changing world and global economy. We are committed to the highest level of quality, teaching excellence and applied research that pursues solutions to real world problems.

We believe that for an education to be consistently meaningful, it needs to be managed efficiently. The management team at DDU drafts policies and guidelines, oversees its implementation and takes care of the day-to-day administration as well as long-term plans. Here is the management structure.

The world, as we see now would have been completely different, if not for engineering and technology. It has played an important part in making our daily lives convenient and comfortable. The mainstay of many industries, especially the manufacturing sector, it has helped in solving myriad problems by applying the principles of science. The Faculty of Technology (FoT) is an institution of higher learning in this important field of engineering and technology.

It would not be wrong to say that the FoT is the crown jewel of DDU. In fact, DDU primarily started as an engineering college (called DDIT) offering degree and diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1968. Since then, it has come a long way - adding other branches of engineering and postgraduate courses, becoming autonomous in 1990 and a deemed university in 2000, and subsequently turning into a University in 2005.
