Education is the process by which an individual is encouraged and enabled to fully develop his or her potential; it may also serve the purpose of equipping the individual with what is necessary to be a productive member of society. Through teaching and learning the individual acquires and develops knowledge and skills.

However, the word's broader meaning covers a range of experiences, from formal learning to the building of understanding and knowledge through day to day experiences. Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University concisely aims to impart and promote agricultural knowledge to Modern Indian students.

Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University is authorized to provide instructions in Agriculture and Allied Sciences which include Horticulture, Home Science and Agri-Business Management. It has also been authorized in other fields of agricultural learning, which the University may deem fit. It is empowered to maintain academic institutions, dealing with agriculture,home science, agri-business management, etc., to carry out instructions in these faculties, hold examinations, and confer degree, diplomas, pertaining to professional qualifications.

The Directorate of Research is headed by the Director Research who has a team of scientists from diverse disciplines to assist him in planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the research, both basic and applied, being conducted at various research units under the directorate. Research work being carried out by the research personnel at the teaching campus is also under the technical control of the Directorate. The Directorate is also engaged in seed production at the research stations and its three seed production farms. In addition, three Centres of Excellence, i.e., Plant Biotechnology Centre, Centre for Forage Management, and Agro-biodiversity Centre are also working under the Directorate of Research. The Plant Biotechnology Centre and the Centre for Forage Management are engaged in research projects for providing solutions to the problems confronting agricultural and rural development in western Rajasthan.
