Collegiate work is characterized not only by serious study in the particular discipline but also reliance on scientific inquiry in the pursuit of academic excellence. Faculty members and students engaged in this endeavor constantly seek to advance the frontiers of knowledge by experimentation, research and publication (Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation, 2012 Manual of Accreditation).

Whilst the mantra of University of Cebu is to make accessible quality but affordable education to all, it has opened its gate wider by accepting deserving students into its scholarship and study grants program. Every year, an estimated 7,000 scholars are admitted to the various institutional, local and international scholarship programs offered by the university. To date, the institution has graduated a sizable number of grant recipients and scholars.

The value of education as an instrument of change has emerged as the primary concern of educators. Undoubtedly, education, whether formal or non-formal, is recognized as a key component of development.Its role as a catalyst and tool of development has gained wider dimensions with the advent of modern communication strategies. Today, education and communication are inseparable and considered as a single unified channel for national progress. Its harmonious integration serves as the most effective liberating force for the individual.Within this perspective, the UC Cultural Development Program’s primary concern is to seek the proper balance and linkage of the students’ learning experience and the professional growth of the faculty members through the interfacing of the academic, scientific, technical and vocational structure of the institution. The UC Students Cultural Services principally aims at integrating the various cultural activities of UC to the educational process of the student, faculty, and personnel within and outside the campus. It pursues a program which exalts the UC stated mission. Its general thrust is directed towards communicating and popularizing the richness of the Filipino culture and heritage (both in themes and praxis), educating UC community members as well as entertaining them. It focuses not only on the aesthetic value of an art form but on a true human content for the development, liberation and happiness of man.

The University of Cebu Athletics Office prepares athletics and sports programs for the benefit of students, faculty and school personnel. The office likewise, directs the activities of official athletic teams and supervises their trainings for their participation in local, national and international competitions. All these years, the Athletics Department is a stronghold of the University having reaped accolades and honor in the line of sports, and have produced athletes who have made the country proud in international sports competitions.The Athletics Department also organizes sports activities in the campus for the students and employees , as well as assist them by providing sports equipments, game officials and at times financial support, if necessary.Other than the in-school services of the Athletics Department, it also extends through its outreach program to the various adapted communities and organizations Sports Clinic, Seminars, lending of sports equipment, assisting in the securing of sports equipments and at times play exhibition games for entertainment.
