Hereford College of Arts is a dedicated arts college with a specialist focus on art, media, design, popular music and performing arts. We offer eleven undergraduate degrees alongside a range of pre-degree and short course programmes for students of all ages from twelve.

We work with a wide range of businesses, organisations, and individuals, regional and nationally, to prepare and connect our studentsfor creative working lives of many different kinds.

Our specialism means we can give a unique focus and quality to the way of life here at HCA. We’re a small college, so our students benefit from our individual and personal attention from expert tutors who are available for a chat at almost any time, any day of the week.

Our studio based courses offer students their own individual work space, and all of our courses are kept small, enabling students to get the very best from their education and to get to know everyone on their course – as well as lots of other students and tutors from other courses!

Our students tell us regularly that being taught by individuals who have professional experience is really important to them. Staff bring with them a wealth of advice about becoming part of the creative sector.

The College is also able to offer one to one training for businesses or individuals as well as tailor made courses to meet individual company needs. We have recently upgraded our Adobe software to CC and many of our other software packages have also been upgraded. One to one training is a great way to get up to date or learn new skills and tailor made courses provide companies with an affordable and convenient way to bring staff up to date with new software or teach them a new skill, please enquire for more information.

Live briefs are also an important part of College life as they provide students with the opportunity to experience working for a client, meeting deadlines etc.... We can't do them all but try to get involved with as many as we can and hope to participate in some exciting local projects this coming year. If you have something in mind which you think may be useful please contact me and if we can help we will. Please note: due to course commitments and the high level of briefs received we are only able to consider briefs between September to March each year.

The location, views and environment make Herefordshire a fantastic source of inspiration for living and work; the countryside, heritage, variety of built environments, the river, sports, people and organisations all offer some great sources for project work. The crime rate in Herefordshire is very low, making the County a very safe place to live.

Studying at the University in Herefordshire has been a transformative experience; the dedicated staff are not just educators, but mentors who have helped my child flourish both academically and personally.

Just finished the two year BTEC Extended Diploma in music at HCA and all I need to say is it was a brilliant course with great staff and a great atmosphere . Would highly recommend thus why i am now moving to study at the same college but doing music at BA Hons degree level.

I attended the open today , the effort that was made by the tutors was fantastic! it was wonderful having one to one time and being given the chance to get to know one another individually receiving and gaining quality time. The college was filled with work from students and tutors All over the college, this was really inspirational! It felt comfortable and everyone was very down to earth and incredibly welcoming and lovely ! I had a brilliant day!!thank you!

We enjoyed the open day day yesterday with our daughter, staff were on hand and very friendly and helpful. We were impressed with the standards of work on display and the facilities and resources made available to students. Only reason for not giving a 5 star review is the way the level 2 course was presented as a non preferable option and all the focus if information was aimed at the level 3 extended diploma. It's left us fearing the level 2 will be treated as a non serious option compared to the higher level course in practice as well as this presentation.

If you are willing to put in the hard work and trust in the decisions of your tutors, the college gives you all the skills and resources you need to make a glowing reputation for yourself in your chosen field. There's nowhere else id rather have studied..

I loved studying at Hereford college of arts, I spent 4 years here in total doing a foundation diploma in art and design, a foundation degree in commercial photography and finally I topped it up to a BA (hons). A brilliant specialist art college! I loved how small it was, this meant you have more time with tutors and everyone knew everyone :)
