Fifty years ago Taiwan was a relatively poor country seeking to become an industrial power; now it is a democratic society at the forefront of information technology. Sixty years ago a school for missionary children operated in a house with five children sitting around a dining room table; now it has three campuses and more than eight hundred students.

A look at the history of Morrison Academy reveals that some things have not changed, namely God’s faithfulness to His people and the desire of this school to serve Him by meeting the educational needs of the children of missionaries. Morrison Academy offers quality American educational programs in a distinctively Christian environment. Its dynamic learning environment paired with caring educators prepares students to be effective leaders, moral and ethical citizens, and life-long learners. The school strives to lead students to the Truth which will provide them with an intellectual and moral anchor for life. It is the school’s goal to equip the whole student, helping them to acquire the knowledge, discernment, and ability to dynamically impact the world. Morrison Academy is jointly accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Christian Schools International.

Morrison Academy was started for five children of missionaries in 1952 and has grown to over 900 students on three campuses. The inner-city campus in Taipei offers kindergarten through tenth grade. The southern campus in Kaohsiung and central campus in Taichung now offer kindergarten through grade twelve. The Taichung Campus also has home-style dormitories. Over 30 countries are represented in the school but over 60% are American citizens. About 30% of our students come from missionary homes. Almost all of our graduates attend university in North America.

The vision of Morrison Academy is that every student will experience a quality, biblically-integrated education, so that each one will be equipped to impact the world dynamically for Christ. The members of this corporation adhere to the following beliefs:

  • The divine inspiration and consequent authority of the whole canonical Scriptures.
  • The doctrine of the Trinity.
  • The doctrine of the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
  • The fall of man, his consequent moral depravity, and his need of regeneration.
  • The atonement through the substitutionary death of Christ.
  • The doctrine of justification by faith.
  • The present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.

I'm glad our kids have the privilege of attending this school! While students are held to the highest of academic standards, they have opportunities to grow as human beings and develop their character through experiential projects and trips outside their classrooms as well.
