Job Summary

Domains of Professional Responsibility

  • The Primary Teacher (Digital and Design Technologies Specialist) is responsible for the College’s Primary digital learning program.
  • Plan, deliver and assess Australian Curriculum aligned learning experiences for early years and primary students in digital and design technologies
  • Embed digital citizenship and safety outcomes into learning
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to align technologies curriculum and make meaningful connections with classroom projects and units
  • Support the implementation of school-wide LMS through approaches to teaching and learning
  • Manage and care of the campus Maker Space, including the replenishment of consumables and resourcing to align with curriculum needs
  • Support classroom teachers with technology enhanced learning in the classroom
  • Support the use of AV equipment at assemblies/chapels

Position Purpose

Responsible jointly to the Head of Primary and the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning, the Primary Teacher (Digital and Design Technologies Specialist) contributes to the College’s aims and philosophy of developing and delivering a contemporary, innovative curriculum which is underpinned by clear expectations about high quality learning outcomes and standards to be achieved and which is appropriate to a modern, technological and culturally diverse society. The Primary Teacher (Digital and Design Technologies Specialist) nurtures self-esteem, encourages self-reflection and develops compassion, respect, and tolerance as a foundation on which children may build their lives in a school environment that values education within a sustaining and life giving Christian community that significantly underpins the daily work of the school and the development of the curriculum.

Selection Criteria/Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies, skills, qualifications and experience:

  • General capabilities and proven dedication to continuous learning and innovation in the area of Educational Technology
  • Ability to implement innovative Prep to Year 6 Digital Technology program
  • A thorough understanding of the stages of early years and primary education and how best to support the development of children academically, physically, socially and spiritually
  • Knowledge of contemporary education, technology tools and trends
  • Experience with Office 365, specifically One Note Class Notebooks
  • Experience with block-based coding platforms and common robotics tools used in the primary years of schooling
  • Ability to utilise a range of teaching strategies to meet the learning needs and styles of a wide range of students
  • Ability to implement effective behaviour management strategies to support an optimal learning environment
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build positive and co-operative relationships with students, peers, parents and colleagues
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in teams
  • Commitment to and participation in the co-curricular program of the College, particularly in the area of digital and design technologies
  • Well-developed organisation and time management skills; well-organised, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Commitment to the Christian ethos of the College and take a role in the College’s Student Care program
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration in Queensland as a teacher
