Located in the beautiful Fraser Valley just east of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is a fully accredited, public university that enrolls approximately 16,000 students per year. UFV has campuses and locations in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope and Agassiz, and a growing presence in Chandigarh, India. UFV is large enough to offer variety, and yet small class sizes allow you to get to know your instructors and learn in a hands-on environment. We offer more than 100 programs, including two master’s degrees, 15 bachelor’s degrees, majors, minors, and extended minors in more than 30 subject areas, and more than a dozen trades and technology programs.

It is UFV’s vision to provide the best undergraduate education in Canada and to be a leader of the social, cultural, economic and environmentally-responsible development of the Fraser Valley. UFV will measure its success by the successes of its graduates and the successful development of the communities they serve. In achieving its goals, UFV has committed to being innovative, entrepreneurial and accountable.

The University of the Fraser Valley, as established by the University Act of British Columbia, is mandated to serve the post-secondary educational needs of its region. Specifically, UFV provides post-secondary academic, trade, technical, career and adult basic education programs that lead to certificates, diplomas, and degrees, at both the undergraduate and master’s level. Faculty and staff are also engaged in foundational and applied research and other scholarly activities that support its program areas and the development of the Fraser Valley.

Paramount priority is placed on students and their learning needs and goals. UFV is committed to excellence in post-secondary education through programs that serve the diverse needs of the Fraser Valley region. We view education as an ongoing process essential for both career progress and actualizing human potential. We make the university accessible to students with diverse backgrounds and goals, while rewarding academic success and maintaining high standards. We value and treat students as mature individuals, and encourage intellectual, cultural, creative, ethical and social development in order to prepare our graduates for their roles as productive citizens of an increasingly complex and pluralistic society. And finally, we place a high value on environmental, social and economic sustainability in all our endeavours.

At the University of the Fraser Valley, my daughter has flourished academically, supported by an exceptionally dedicated staff that values each student's journey.

Just an awful university. One of their professors filmed me without my knowledge and put it onto the internet where other students bullied me. I brought this and other instances of shady student/teacher behaviour to the human rights board and was unanimously shut down, victim shamed and lead to believe there something wrong with me. I'm not the only one to have this happen to them at this school. For every dozen or so positive reviews, there is one or two stories of people who have had their lives ruined by going here. Don't let it be you. Narrowminded.and abusive. Avoid this "university"

One of the best universities in the lower mainland with helpful faculty, great learning environment. Their career center really helped me get employment. Smaller class sizes means professors actually know you and focus on you. Great place to learn and develop your skills for future.

I took the Graphic & Digital Design 2-Year diploma at UFV. I now work full-time as a graphic designer in Abbotsford, and I'm proud to say I love my job. The program was very intense, but I loved every minute of it. The Mission campus has amazing computer labs, and all of the teachers were super helpful. I also loved the lab technicians, they were always there to help with problems or give advice. It was clear that all the staff have real passion for what they do. When it was nearly time to graduate, I was anxious about finding work. With the help of some very dedicated teachers, we put on a portfolio showcase event. This gave me the opportunity to network with industry professionals. I met my current boss and landed an interview for the following week. I would highly recommend the GDD Program for creative people who want a fulfilling career. I believe that if you work hard, have passion, and take networking seriously, it is possible to make it. Don't let people tell you there's no work for creative people. It's out there, you just need to grab it.

Worst educational experience ever. Teacher was late almost every day and took extended breaks. My grades were wrong, the teacher unprepared, and disorganized. I even saw him working on his own projects during class time. My general impression was UFV wants your money but doesn't want to educate.

The Professors are amazing and very willing to take time to answer questions. The staff and counsellor are also great and I have volunteered with them at events like Beyond the Blues. What is poor is our Student Union Society. Recently they moved the sus run shuttle bus to in front of the student union building, which is clearly an effort by them to promote themselves and their foodservices, however it is further away from connecting to Abbotsford public transit. Many students did not know about this change and have been waiting at the old bus stop which is clearly marked with a bench and the new stop is not marked. Further the student union held the welcome back events, concert, food, and carnival on labour day when no ufv shuttle services were running. This was poor planning by the student union since it was the day before student loans and grants arrived and for students who do not drive it means we were discluded. I come from Chilliwack and while BC transit operates the route 66 it would have cost 10 dollars on the day before funding arrives. Finally there was supposed to be a welcome back bbq on Sept 6th by cascade newspaper which mysteriously never happened. Staff are great but student operated campus planning needs improvement

Great school with some of the best professors you'll find anywhere. Loved seeing it develop over the last decade into a top-tier university. There are other campuses, and the Chilliwack one is great, but this is the defacto location. Go and walk around campus and check it out. All it needs is a nearby grocery store and a better university district to build up around it -- the good news is that the city has developed a U-District plan in partnership with UFV. Can't wait to see it grow even better in the coming years.
