Schutz American School

Founded in 1924, Schutz American School (SAS) is an independent, nonsectarian, coeducational day school which offers a challenging American-based educational program from Early Childhood program for 3 year old students through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. SAS is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MAS).

Schutz is located in one of the oldest cities in the world with a rich cultural backdrop that provides numerous chances to see the ancient wonders of the world.

We understand that being a strong “Family” member means modeling and developing the Schutz Learner Profile in all that we do, both on and off campus. Every aspect of our program focuses on facilitating the learning of our students to meet our high academic and social/emotional standards. Students pursue a rigorous and challenging curriculum that prepares them for success in some of the most competitive colleges and universities throughout the world. Most importantly we help prepare students to meet our mission in helping them understand and pursue their passions and contribute positively to the world as a global citizen.

We seek out and recruit teachers from all over the world to find the very best staff. We also seek out those local professionals in education who share our values and beliefs of learning to build a cohesive team. Our staff are constantly working to improve their techniques, skills, and knowledge in a collaborative environment, in order to facilitate the strongest learning environment possible. Schutz is pursuing International Baccalaureate Authorization in the Primary Years Program and the Middle Years Program.

The Schutz campus is a combination of modern and updated facilities dating back to our first days as a retreat center. We have advanced internet connectivity, modern science labs, and the best athletic facilities in the city. We have a purpose built Early Childhood center and large elementary classrooms with natural light and plenty of room to implement inquiry and collaborative learning. Our grounds provide plenty of space to play and run. We pride ourselves on small classroom sizes and the personal attention our students get from our highly professional staff.

Schutz provides an individualized education to each and every child. We deliver this premiere education through an inquiry based teaching approach. Each of our classrooms is student centered and focuses on students developing agency and collaboration skills in all they learn. Schutz students are successful learners no matter where they are in the world.
