Job Summary
The position as professor for Aircraft Design has been allocated in TU Wien’s development plan to the focal areas of research of Computational Science & Engineering. The future incumbent’s field of work should be in the field of Aircraft Design, with a focus in the areas of
- Aircraft in the operational environment
- Aircraft and system design
- Complex aircraft structures
Your profile
- Completed doctoral or PhD studies corresponding to the deployment described from a domestic or equivalent foreign university or research institution or achievement of an equivalent scientific qualification
- The qualification for lecturing (venia docendi) acquired at a domestic or equivalent foreign university or an academic qualification recognised as equivalent to qualification as a university lecturer
- Publications in internationally recognised academic professional journals in the fields of work of the professorship
- Pedagogic or didactic qualification for academic teaching in the field of specialisation cited, in English
- Research experience relevant to the field of specialisation with national and international reputation as well as skills in networking
- The incumbent will ideally have competence or experience in the professional promotion of young scholars and women as well as in the field of gender mainstreaming
Particular requirements are
- Excellent knowledge in the field of aircraft design in the operational environment
- Excellent knowledge in design and layout of manned and/or unmanned fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft (fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, tiltrotor- / tiltwing aircraft and hybrid systems)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements like Certification Specifications for aircraft and Certification Processes
Good knowledge of engineering design to realize new concepts of aircraft
- Experience in the cooperation with research institutions and industrial partners on national, EU- and international level. Experience in private sector (aircraft design, engineering and design in general) is highly appreciated
- Experience in recruitment, completion and management of research projects
- Suitability and willingness to manage a research division or a research group
- In case there is no adequate knowledge of German, willingness to quickly learn German is presupposed for teaching in bachelor programmes and participation in management of the institute and the faculty as well as in university bodies
- Onsite presence is expected
