Situated in Glenhazel, Johannesburg, Yeshiva College is the first and currently the largest torah school in Southern Africa and amongst the largest in the southern hemisphere. Yeshiva has over 1040 students and a staff complement of 180 professionals spanning across 5 schools: playschool; pre-primary school; primary school; girls high school and boys high school.
At Yeshiva College, we are driven by a passion for Torah learning and living. We focus on academic excellence evident in our consistently outstanding matric results and 100% pass rate. Zionism and a deep commitment to the People, Land and State of Israel are at the heart of our ethos. Sport is central to our curriculum and Yeshiva continues to excel across all sporting arenas.
Our mission is to create a nurturing environment in which the school partners with parents to provide excellence in Torah Chinuch (education) and General Studies, in order to prepare children for life and its responsibilities as Torah Jews, with values in line with the core values of our school. Yeshiva’s vibrant, warm and energetic culture focuses on educating the whole person, nurturing individuality and leadership qualities of each and every student.

Yeshiva College Playschool aims to develop the “whole child” by nurturing each child’s social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical needs within a warm, loving, secure and stimulating environment.
The Playschool offers an age-appropriate, integrated General Studies and Kodesh programme. The school’s objective is to instil a love of Judaism and Yiddishkeit, creating a platform for a lifetime of Torah learning, together with the development of skills and knowledge of the world around us.
An integration of General Studies and Kodesh underlies the curriculum.
Yeshiva College Playschool is able to accommodate three classes. The children turn three years old in the year that they spend at the Playschool. A large complement of teachers, who attend continuous professional development courses on a variety of topics pertaining to Early Childhood Development, and assistants teach and nurture our little learners.
Outdoors, an exciting playground fuels our children’s energy whilst, indoors, a variety of educational games and resources develop our little learners’ skills. Resources are continually upgraded to further enrich the children’s learning experience.
Yeshiva College Primary School provides our learners with a holistic education that is focused on high levels of academic achievement across both our Limudei Kodesh and General Studies disciplines.
Our unique offering encompases a dual curriculum, devoting approximately 30 % of our day to Limudei Kodesh. However, we do not allow this focus to distract us from a total dedication to competing academically with the top academic schools. It is an extremely important focus in the High School that we attract and keep the best teachers available. At Yeshiva College, we place a great deal of emphasis on academic excellence and developing the whole learner.
This is evident in our outstanding matric results and the contribution that our graduates go on to make to the world around them. Over the past six years, because of a concentrated vision of all round excellence, we have seen a drastic improvement in our matric results. We are extremely proud of our consistent 100% matric pass rate and we are particularly excited about the fact that in 2014, as well as attaining an average of 3,92 distinction per matric candidate, we also achieved 100% University Entrance, affording all of our graduating class, the privilege of being eligible to go to university if they so desire.
This focus, together with the love for the State of Israel and the Jewish Community at large, instills in each child a unique set of values, essential to Jewish life and a successful future. Responsibility to the land of South Africa and outreach across the broader community forms a great part of the ethos of the school. Parents and teachers work closely together in achieving this objective, thereby enriching the path of education for all children. Yeshiva Primary School is committed to creating a warm, nurturing environment, one in which each and every learner feels safe, comfortable, happy and ready to learn.
The Yeshiva Primary School staff complement consists of a group of professional educators, committed to ongoing professional development and personal growth across all areas of education.
