In 1994, while conducting research for her Masters degree in music, Lilian Niemann began investigating the link between music and maths. Spending time at Eastern Cape primary schools, she soon discovered a backlog among learners when it came to maths.

After talking to a colleague, Lilian decided to start a Saturday township school, where she could spend time helping disadvantaged learners catch up to their peers.

With a strong focus on both education and entrepreneurship, we aim to develop learners and students in a way that encourages self-motivation, one that will see them realising bright futures as business starters and leaders. Our programmes are developed specifically around practical teaching and learning, giving learners the chance to gain experience and build on their expertise in the working environment.

Well aware of the job shortage currently facing South Africa, we hope that through education and skills development, we can do our bit towards combating unemployment in Nelson Mandela Bay and the rest of the country. Our passionate and dedicated team is focused on making quality education a priority for all South Africans.

E-Square has the vision to establish an Enterprising Educational Hub at the Nelson Mandela Bay square of Port Elizabeth. Two themes, Entrepreneurship and Education, form the core of this vision.

To provide quality education through holistic learning experiences that will enable individuals and communities to actively participate in a global business environment.

During this phase in a child’s life, they are separated from the comfort and secure zone of their parents and creche. Therefore, their Pre-Primary School has to be a place which is a second home to the child. This is something we strive for at Ed-U College (Port Elizabeth) NPC Pre-Primary School, we pride ourselves in our family environment which is safe and secure and offers stability and comfortability.

We ensure that children are able to build their self-esteem and understand the importance of themselves, their environment and their friends. We encourage learners to communicate with their teachers and fellow learners, making sure it is the right place for your child to build a foundation for Primary School. We believe that skills and knowledge built in Pre-Primary Phase of a child’s life have a great impact on their aptitude and attitude in their future schooling careers and we have excellent staff and facilities to make sure that this is achieved.

At Ed-U College (Port Elizabeth) NPC our main purpose in Primary School Education is to assist learners on many levels. We strive to stay ahead of the technological advancements of our world and ensure that Information Technology is incorporated into our curriculum across all subjects. At Ed-U College (Port Elizabeth) NPC, we provide quality education with excellent staff which is vital to the success of our learners schooling career.

Known for its excellent level of teaching, Ed-U College High School has established itself as one of the top independent schools in Nelson Mandela Bay. Our team of highly skilled staff aims to provide learners with the best education possible, equipping them with necessary skills to ensure they excel in their future endeavours. The school follows the National Curriculum Statement (NCS) of South Africa’s Department of Education for Grades 8 – 12. We also work hard at maintaining strong links to numerous industries, schools and colleges, to ensure that we provide accurate and relevant career information and opportunities to our learners.

The Ed-U College (Port Elizabeth) Saturday School Programme was developed to assist learners struggling with specific subjects during their regular weekly classes. Initiated in 1994 as an independent school for township learners, the school has since developed into an Enrichment Programme, offering tuition in a wide variety of subjects to learners from Grades 1 – 12.

Not just for Ed-U College (Port Elizabeth) learners, Saturday School welcomes children from any schools in the area. It gives learners the opportunity to work closely with expert teachers in small classes, guaranteeing them focused, individual attention. Annually the school assists over 500 learners in realising their own personal success.

In 2018 we opened the on-campus Aftercare facility for our learners that accommodates Grade R’s to Grade 9’s. We have had huge success with the Aftercare and encourage all parents to consider making use of the services we offer. Learners come into Aftercare after school and are collected no later than 5pm every school day.

Our Aftercare is managed by our teaching and support staff. The fact that teachers are available at the Aftercare every day, means your child will get academic support in subject areas they need help with, or make use of this support for those who wish to achieve academic excellence.
