Nyameko High School is situated in N.U 8 in Mdantsane, the South Africa’s 2nd biggest township that was established during the apartheid South Africa. The school is a home of many great graduates who are now impactful in the different areas of the South African economy. The school is known for its consistent great set of Grade 12 results.

Our Nyameko High School was officially opened in 1976 under the then Principal, the late Mr D.N Kondlo. This school started with a teaching staff of 10 teachers. Then it had only Standard 6 (Grade 8). At that time, 8 classrooms were used for teaching purposes with approximately 50 pupils per class. At that stage only two blocks were completed, each consist of 6 classrooms, the 7th class room being the Principal’s office while the 7th one in the second block housing the Staff room. The first school committee was under the chairmanship of Mr Mafanya. In 977 the school added two additional Grades, such that the school was now a Junior secondary school (Grade 8 – 10).
Nyameko High School has the basic academic facilities for its academic teaching, including a computer laboratory. There is also a Science Lab which is used for Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. A library, equipped with reading books and additional academic books is available and accessible to the learners. We are trying with the limited resources to keep up with the latest educational technological advances, hence, we have recently acquired the Overhead Projectors for teaching and learning. Most of our teachers have been provided with Laptops to support their teaching activities. With the funding assistance of Mercedes Benz, our school has Wi-Fi internet access for effective teaching and learning for our teachers and learners.

My child has had an amazing experience at Nyameko High School in the Eastern Cape. The quality of education provided is outstanding, and the staff is incredibly helpful and dedicated. My child has made great progress and I couldn't be happier with their growth.
