The Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston endorses the development and promotion of positive behaviour in a multicultural South African society. This requires a commitment to a common value system which includes respect for the individual, excellence, loyalty to the traditions of Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston and respect for the environment, as well as a Christian philosophy & practice.

Code Of Conduct for Learners are following:

  • Learners may not be absent from a class during school hours or leave the school grounds without permission from the principal or deputy principal.
  • The principal will only grant permission to leave the school grounds, if a written request has been sent by the parents.
  • Learners who leave the school during school hours must be signed out by their parents at the Administration office.
  • In the case of absence, the parents must inform the principal in writing as to the reason or submit a medical certificate.
  • A medical certificate must be submitted in the case of absence during exams, SBA’s or tests.
  • Show honour and respect towards all adults, educators and fellow learners.
  • Respect school property and the property of others.
  • Show honour and respect towards the National Symbols of RSA.
  • Respect the codes of the school and disclose it.
  • Wear the correct school uniform and sport clothes to school and sport functions
  • Cell phones or data appliances may under no circumstances be used, activated or be visible during school hours, from entering the school premises, until the bell rings after school.
  • When a cell phone/data appliance is confiscated from a learner, such learner will have to pay a fine upon collection of the cell phone/data appliance.
  • Learners with cell phones/data appliances may not have any form of pornography, sexism or racism on their phones/data appliances.
  • No learner may have a cell phone on their person during a test/exam.

The school undertakes to educate, make aware, discourage and react firmly when any of the learners are involved in a drug situation. The Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston further tries to act in co-operation with other local schools and community organizations to minimize the problem.

Should a learner be found guilty then there must be involvement in a counselling or rehabilitation process, where the counsellor/rehabilitator is instructed that information of the pupil’s progress/rehabilitation is to be made known to the school, principal of delegate. Should the process be protracted, then further tests may be called for by the school (at parent’s expense).

Should there be little or no improvement/rehabilitation, then the learner’s further presence at the school may need re-evaluation.Should the learner at a later date be found in a drug situation again or should it be apparent that the learner has insufficient resolve to rehabilitate the School will refer the matter to the HOD at the Department of Education for expulsion.
