Early Years Understanding Schema Play
Why do some children have a fascination with running water that leads them to soaking the bathroom? Have you ever wondered why children line up objects and then repeat the action constantly? This session will explore the importance of schema play to babies and young children’s development. It will delve into the theoretical underpinnings of schema and introduce early years practitioners to activities, resources and projects that encourage and support schema play. At the end of the session, participants will recognise the difference between trajectory and rotation schema and may think twice before intervening in a young child’s play frame.
