The Office of Institutional Research and Planning reports directly to the president and works closely with senior-level administrators and deans to provide college-wide leadership and direction in the areas of strategic planning, institutional research, assessment, and effectiveness. The Office provides management information and analytical support for institutional planning and policy decision making in the College’s quest for continuous improvement. The Office thus conducts research; provides analysis; and generates, interprets, and disseminates data on student enrollment and achievement, academic programs and support services, faculty and staff, finance, facilities, and other reports on an ad hoc basis.

Our student-centered approach at Dalton State begins during the admissions process, as our counselors will work one-on-one with prospective students and their families to navigate the admissions and financial aid processes. Together, we’ll make sure you know what is required to ensure all your papers are signed, all your qualified funding is secured, and all your questions are answered.

All students are invited to apply for scholarships from the Dalton State Foundation. Last year, the Foundation awarded 154 scholarships totaling more than $250,000. Plus, 58% of our students receive some form of need-based financial support. With our already low tuition and fees, even a modest grant or scholarship can go a long way at Dalton State.

While tuition prices and average student loan debt is skyrocketing at most four-year schools, Dalton State remains committed to offering an outstanding value – a great education at an affordable cost. We believe the most important investment is the one we make in you, not the other way around.

The Department of Health and Wellness provides high quality recreation and wellness activities, fitness, counseling, and health care services to promote personal growth and the lifelong physical and emotional well-being of our students.

The Counseling Center exists to holistically support the individual student and the campus community. The Counseling Center is committed to promote intellectual, emotional, occupational, social, cultural, moral, and professional growth and development. Central to our mission and daily practice is a commitment to confidentiality, upholding ethical behavior, and providing counseling based on current research and proven standards. We also hold a strong commitment to social justice through creating awareness and action in our campus community and beyond.

Services are provided in order to enable students to overcome difficulties, which interfere with learning or interpersonal behavior and development. Counseling often addresses the immediate difficulty, and working on developing a process that enables students to acquire a healthier way of coping with stress and/or problems.

Outreach programming focuses on wellness and the developmental needs of students in order to maximize the potential of all students and to help them reap the most benefit from their academic experience. Focus may also be on raising awareness and promoting action for social justice issues. There may be presentations, workshops, services as requested by classroom instructors, student organizations, and other groups. Issues addressed may include self-understanding, healthy relationships, suicide prevention, etc.

The Counseling Center Staff, as applied behavioral scientists, work with students, faculty, and staff in order to make the environment as beneficial as possible to the intellectual, emotional, social, moral, and physical development of all students and to help them become more informed and able to solve problems of concern to them.

A small campus without the large college campus indifference to their students. There are more older students on campus, classes are smaller, and class' are more interaction with professors. Many students are local high school graduates, who have a hard time accepting a great college is in their city.Dalton State College i truly recommended.
