The Graduate School is excited to be included in your pursuit of graduate education and is committed to providing you the support necessary to ensure a smooth admission process.Graduate admissions is a two-part process at EIU. It involves application to the Graduate School as well as application to the graduate program if you are seeking a degree in a particular discipline. If you need to enroll in coursework without applying to a graduate program, please select "non-degree" on the admission application.
The International Student Scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees to assist students from other countries to attend EIU. Awards are competitive and designed to promote cultural exchange and diversity. Awards may be granted on the basis of one or both of the following factors: financial need and academic excellence. The scholarship pays partial tuition for minimum full-time enrollment in EIU courses. Fees, field trips, continuing education delivery charges, travel, living expenses, and other personal expenses are not covered.
If you're currently in high school or have never attended college, applying for undergraduate admission as an incoming freshman is for you. If you've already earned a bachelor's degree and are interested in furthering your education with a graduate degree or second bachelor's degree, you'll want to apply for admission to The Graduate School. Looking to make the move to EIU from a community college or another university? Transfer students make up 35 percent of our undergraduate population, and our Office of Transfer Relations is here to ensure a smooth transition.
EIU is proud to be an excellent home for students from outside the United States. If you fit that bill, you can apply for international admission. Not all potential students are high school seniors or community college transfers, which is why our BA in General Studies program exists. It is specifically designed to meet the educational goals of mature adults in a format and structure compatible with adult responsibilities. Registered nurses (RNs) who are already licensed to practice and newly graduated non-licensed ADN's who are ready to advance to a BSN degree from EIU should apply to our RN to BS in Nursing program.
The Organizational and Professional Development (OPD) bachelor's degree program revolves around a distinct field of academic study focused on an understanding of the human aspects of professional organizations, aspects such as people, processes and practices. Did you attend EIU in the past without ever getting a chance to finish up your undergraduate degree? If one or more semesters have passed since you last enrolled, you can apply for readmission to the university and get yourself that diploma.

Eastern Illinois University is a good school. If you work hard you will graduate. I saw many people not work hard and they ended up dropping out. You get what you put into it.

Eastern Illinois University was a very positive experience for me. In addition to a good college education (Business), I took advantage of everything EIU and Charleston had to offer. The students, faculty and locals are friendly and easy to get along with. Finding a job locally helped me to meet many non-students from SE IL who are still my friends today. EIU is also a great place to learn about life in and out of the classroom. Two thumbs up for Eastern Illinois University!

I thing Eastern Illinois University is a great school. I actually did not give it a chance, and I wanted to transfer. In the summer my parents told me they feel I did not give EIU a chance and I realized it. The faculty are awesome, and I had great teachers. I wish I gave it a chance, but I'm ready to make the best of it this coming fall.

Choosing to go to Eastern Illinois University was the best decision I've ever made. I've met tons of great people and have plenty of opportunities to excel available to me. Jobs are fairly easy to come by and there are hundreds or different types of jobs available to students, not just fast food type jobs. The weekends are great. There are always parties of some type happening especially when the weather is nice. The campus is well planned and its very easy to get around without having to worry about traveling long distances or planning your life around a bus schedule. I suggest anybody remotely interested in the university strongly consider a personal visit and see for themselves how great Eastern Illinois University is.
