Our Mission statement adopted and reviewed in 2016 states: "Untied In Excellence". Bringing both the school, learners, Parents and our local community together. We edevour to instill the following core values into our learners. Respect, Integrity, Responsibility and Loyalty.

Kingsway High School is rich in tradition and talents, handed down to us through the dedication and vision of our predecessors, who is still inspiring us to strive for excellence!

The school was founded in 1953, and the first Principal to steer this ship was Mr D G Truscott. The school was known as Kingsway Senior High School from 1972 under the leadership of Mr P E Bazley, and educated many generations of young men and women.

We are inclusive in our intake, comprehensive in the curriculum we offer, encouraging respect, mutual understanding, peace, tolerance, forgiveness, reconciliation and embracing the fear of difference! The Kingsway motto “United in excellence”, is an integral educational philosophy at our school, where every learner matters, and academic improvement stands to be the core business of every one of our excellent qualified educators. Reflecting on the well known expression, “take time and smell the roses” left me with a few powerful lessons in life.

Take time and notice the need, or glory, of people around you. Stop and really take in this moment, appreciate and know that this moment is all you have to make a difference!

The second lesson I have learnt is that the goals we have set for ourselves can be attained through faith in ourselves and trust in others, despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles. We need to trust our intuition and accept the guidance of others who may have greater insight.

My next lesson was to appreciate the gift of life and sight! At Kingsway we have learnt to use our God-given talents to experience life to the fullest and to make a difference where needed. Through the music of the late Mandosa, Lucky Dube and Ladysmith Black Mambaso, I have learnt that:

• You may allow people to make you, not break you
• That life is a gift of time, make that gift count
• Pain or failure is not a reason to quit, use the opportunity to come back stronger
• There should be no limit to big dreams
• Success without fulfilment, is the ultimate failure

Kingsway High School is giving back to the children of South Africa, the children of the Amanzimtoti community, the children of Kingsway - who will be the leaders in this country in years to come!
