It’s something we show them. It's something we live. Since 1885, Springfield College has undergone name changes, renovations, construction, and other major developments. One thing that has remained the same has been our focus on Humanics. You may be asking, “what is that?” We’re always happy to share. Humanics is our unique philosophy that calls for the education of students in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others. That means that we focus on helping students grow the whole person so they can serve as leaders in their communities, organizations, companies, or wherever their next steps take them.

The leadership of Springfield College is dedicated to creating a holistic learning environment that promotes student growth, academic excellence, engaged learning and high impact practices, and successful graduates that provide leadership in service to others.

The mission of Springfield College is to educate the whole person in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others.

Humanics, the age-old Greek ideal of the balanced individual. We believe, as did the ancient Greeks, that a person’s emotional, intellectual, and physical lives are interconnected. The Humanics philosophy calls for the education of the whole person—in spirit, mind, and body—for leadership in service to others. And, we represent this ideology with a triangle. You may have seen a couple around campus.

Sounds pretty deep, but it's really not that complicated. Simply put, it's not all about books around here. It's also about bodies, attitudes, and emotions. So, while preparing for your life of helping others, your education at Springfield College will also provide you with an understanding of how the elements of Humanics work together. It’s all about balance.

And so far, the balancing act seems to be working. In more than 60 countries worldwide (at last count), Springfield College’s more than 45,000 alumni are providing leadership and making a difference—as coaches, corporate CEOs, social workers, authors, medical professionals, athletic trainers, software engineers—and that’s just the beginning. We think the ancient Greeks would be proud.

We offer graduate and undergraduate degrees as well as certificates of advanced study in a variety of areas. We also offer professional continuing studies at eight campuses across the country.

We are here to help you, whether it's planning your education, or starting a career after your time at Springfield College.

Because our education and student experience is truly transformative. It's about interactive and engaged learning, and programs and activities that make a difference in the world. It's about educating you in spirit, mind, and body. It's about an education grounded in leadership in service to others. It's about preparing you for a fulfilling life and career.

We're excited to share with our new Harold C. Smith Learning Commons, the academic hub for Springfield College students.

You'll be able to study, meet for group work, work with reference librarians and Academic Advising Center staff members, and get your IT questions answered all Our Humanics philosophy means not only a well-rounded education, but a great experience outside the classroom, too. To balance out their studies, students spend free time leading service projects, supporting our athletics teams in the stands or on the field, and taking advantage of the many clubs and organizations in our campus community.

The Springfield College experience goes beyond academics. You’ll have opportunities to study abroad, gain employment, volunteer, or flex your leadership skills through engaged learning opportunities that will help you understand yourself and the world in which you live.

We all want to belong. So, we strive to maintain an inclusive community where everyone does. Explore what matters to you through our Office of Spiritual Life, our International Center, our Office of Multicultural Affairs, or our Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement.

Through academic scholarship and a vibrant athletics culture, Springfield College students are well rounded, whole, balanced individuals who are at the top of their games, no matter their forum. And these exemplary students have selected Springfield College—in most cases as their first choice—because we are committed to graduating students who will change the world. Springfield College is consistently ranked among the best universities and as an institution that leads to graduate school for many of its students.

Springfield College offers 47 undergraduate majors in a wide range of human-helping professions. Our majors blend traditional coursework with experiential learning such as internships, fieldwork, student teaching, and practicums.

The blend of classroom and real-world experience is what provides our students with skills, knowledge, insight, and networks to achieve their career goals upon graduation.

Springfield College has a vibrant campus life and students are provided with ample opportunity to explore their professional and personal interests. Our traditional New England campus, situated on the shores of Lake Massasoit, is like an oasis in a city. In addition to academic, there are recreational facilities and special interest clubs and organizations, all within an hour and a half drive to Boston, Albany, or Providence.
