Manukau Christian School was established in 1987 in Great South Road, Manurewa, with a small core group of students and was known as St Andrew's Christian School.
Mr Ross Thompson, the pastor of the St Andrew's Presbyterian Church at the time, was pivotal in setting up the school. Along with parents who sought to be faithful and obedient to the Lord and who wanted an education for their children that was consistent in all aspects with the Christian faith, our school was born.
Our founding principal, Mr Shane Kennedy was employed from 1992 until 2017. He was a parent member of the school's founding committee in 1987. The school has grown and flourished over the subsequent years.
In 2005 we relocated to our new site at Rogers Road and became known as Manukau Christian School. This name reflects our geographical location and the large area that comprises our school community. The school is a private, non-denominational Christian school, originally catering for pupils from Year 1 to Year 8, extending to Year 9 in 2015, Year 10 in 2016, Year 11 in 2017, Year 12 in 2018 and Year 13 in 2019.
The school has a strong and well-established reputation for teaching core subjects thoroughly and comprehensively. We focus upon establishing a foundation of learning and knowledge that will enable children to excel later at senior and tertiary schools. We measure our children against international benchmarks as set in the Cambridge Checkpoint system to ensure that our pupils are benefiting from "best practice" educational standards and processes.Manukau Christian School is a private Cambridge International school enrolling primary students in Years 1 to 6, emerging adolescents in Years 7 to 10, and senior students in Years 11 to 13.

Teaching the Cambridge curriculum from a uniquely biblical worldview sets patterns in place, both spiritually and academically. These patterns and habits form them as people and this sets them up for life. This 6-minute clip Why Ignorance is Not Bliss is a justification for a knowledge-based education system researcher by Briar Lipson.
Christian teachers love and care for your children and seek to inspire your child to aspire to live by Christian values. We encourage your child to develop a servant heart: looking outward rather than inward, thereby developing leadership and initiative. We expect the best from your child and we strive to achieve the best for your child as teachers.
We endeavour to put Christ at the centre of all, by teaching all subject areas through a biblical lens. Our aim is to assist parents in the education of their children by providing an environment where academic excellence, godly character and servant leadership are developed in accordance with biblical truths and principles.
Manukau Christian School is an independent private school, not to be confused with a state-integrated or a state school. Therefore, as a private school we are able to implement our Christian curriculum in conjunction with Cambridge Assessment International Education. This gives your child an internationally recognised benchmark at Primary, Middle and Senior levels.Cambridge International Examinations have been adopted by an increasing number of secondary schools in New Zealand.
The Cambridge curriculum is adapted to our New Zealand context and content. This means that your child will be well equipped to excel at all levels and in particular gain excellent preparation for tertiary education.A leaflet for parents and students explaining the benefits of a Cambridge education is available.
Each child is unique and courses are designed to be responsive to each child's individual needs. The individual focus upon each child, however, takes place within the context of a comprehensive integrated curriculum. Each year presupposes and builds upon the knowledge gained in the preceding year.
The curriculum is well-structured and focuses on core subjects which provide essential tools for learning across disciplines. Our belief is that we are responsible to impart a foundation and framework to children that will enable them to keep growing and learning for the rest of their lives. Therefore, we focus particularly upon the core subject areas which are essential to all other learning. The most important core areas of learning are subjects related to language and numbers.
It is important that children start early in order to build a quality foundation for learning.
There is strong and growing interest for students at senior levels to qualify under the internationally recognised Cambridge International Examination system. In order to do well at Cambridge exams in later school years it is essential that a robust educational and scholastic foundation is laid in the early years. By harnessing the Cambridge curriculum and by using the Cambridge Checkpoint system at primary levels, we are able to offer a comprehensive preparatory education for pupils to excel at Cambridge International Examinations.
