Here we wish to provide current and prospective parents alike, with a useful resource and source of information. The pages will give you a snapshot of our wonderful environment, however there is no better way of appreciating this than to pay us a visit, and we hope that you will do so soon.Waihi is a small family oriented school with spacious rural grounds and up-to-date facilities. Christian values and extensive pastoral care by peers and staff ensure every Waihi boy responds to the challenge of personal development.

Established in 1907, Waihi continues a history of excellence in preparing confident, accomplished and well-balanced boys for secondary school and the future. For the past 112 years Waihi has been providing a first class prep school education for New Zealand boys. Whilst we are proud of both our history and traditions, the school is constantly looking to the future of our boys.

Waihi is an independent preparatory school for boys aged eight to thirteen. We cater for both day and boarding boys from Year 4 to Year 8. Situated north of Winchester in South Canterbury on 10 hectares of attractive grounds, Waihi is a small, family-oriented school with Christian values. For over one hundred years boys have enjoyed a remarkable education here in the heart of beautiful South Canterbury. The boys of today are no different, they travel from across the South Island, and beyond, to live, grow and learn in our very special school. The pages of our prospectus will give you a snapshot of our wonderful environment however there is no better way of appreciating this than to pay us a visit, and I hope that you will do so soon

As specialists in boys’ education, we spend a lot of time thinking about the unique ways in which boys learn and grow. This mission shapes everything we do, and at the core of our strategic planning is the Waihi Boy.The biggest impact on the learning and personal development of the Waihi Boy is without doubt our high quality staff team. There is a wide range of non-teaching support staff in the boarding house, office, kitchen and around the grounds that ensure the environment for our boys and teachers is first class. Half of our teaching staff team live onsite with their young families and being a boy at Waihi means being part of that large family.

The remarkable dedication of the staff at this school has truly made a difference; my child is not only excelling academically, but also growing in confidence every day.
