Mount Saint Mary College was founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic in 1959, but the Mount has been an academic presence here in Newburgh since 1883. The college's roots in education, and in the training of educators, go even further back to the 13th century and Saint Dominic.

We offer our students an affordable liberal arts education with strong academic undergraduate programsand three graduate programs. Our degree programs in business, education, the health professions, media studies, and the social sciences are linked to high career growth fields. Mount students excel in their chosen fields by selecting internships and study abroad experiences that add dimension and value to their education.

Mount Saint Mary College is an institution of higher education guided by the Catholic and Dominican traditions of academic rigor, pursuit of truth, social justice, leadership and service. The College Bylaws indicate that Mount Saint Mary College “aims to give its students a Catholic cultural-professional education in the liberal arts tradition.”

As reflected in its motto “Doce Me Veritatem” (Teach Me the Truth) Mount Saint Mary College, founded by the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, is an independent, coeducational institution committed to providing students with a liberal arts education to prepare them for lives of leadership and service. Through a variety of majors and professional programs, students are also prepared for career entry or graduate and professional studies.

Consistent with Judeo-Christian values and the Dominican tradition of education that values the inherent worth of the individual, the mission of Mount Saint Mary College is to create an environment which fosters close student-faculty interaction that enables students to reach their full potential as lifelong learners. The Office of Online Learning supports Mount Saint Mary College's broader mission by committing to the needs of students' learning in the contemporary online and hybrid classroom. We do this through the use of learner-centered methodology and collaboration across the disciplines and the campus at large.

Moreover, we recognize that the very nature of this field is ever-changing and dynamic. As such, we strive to facilitate and share our expertise regarding best practices in online pedagogy and learning, and prioritize the training and support of faculty who implement these methods in their classrooms.

The Mount's Study Abroad program –– part of the Career Center — provides students with a global education that goes beyond the classroom experience. Our study abroad initiative is a response to the growing need for well-rounded graduates with an understanding of international affairs and world cultures. Studying abroad supports our students and broadens their academic perspective, global awareness, and personal development as engaged world citizens.

With over 50 academic programs to choose from, modern residence halls and learning spaces, and outstanding faculty, the Mount has everything you need to succeed. Student Life revolves around clubs and organizations that were created in response to our students' interests, talents, and creativity.

The mission of the Office of Disability Services is to provide individualized support to students with disabilities to ensure access to a complete and fulfilling higher education. Disability Services offers classroom and academic accommodations, testing accommodations, consultation advocacy, and assistance with campus accessibility. Disability Services acts as a resource for students, faculty, and staff who need assistance in addressing disability issues and concerns. Disability Services coordinates Mount Saint Mary College’s academic and non-academic campus accommodations (including temporary disabilities), assists students in communicating needs to faculty and staff, and works collaboratively with other departments to resolve any concerns related to disability needs that may arise.

P.R.I.D.E. is designed to wrap supports around students who are registered through the Office of Disability Services and provide one-to-one meetings focusing on independence, academic success, self-advocacy skills, facilitation with other campus departments, social skills, symptom management, coping/stress management skills, and communication skills.
