The Catholic Faith is the most important aspect of St. Michael's Preparatory School, which is run by the Norbertine Fathers of St. Michael's Abbey. Located on the grounds of a thriving Roman Catholic monastery in Southern California, the students attend daily Mass, nightly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and are given 4 years of solid Catholic instruction. During their Junior Year St. Michael's students visit Rome, the heart of the Catholic world, for two weeks. The number one reason parents send their sons to St. Michael's Preparatory is to be formed in the Catholic Faith.
St. Michael's Preparatory School ranks among the top 50 Catholic high schools in the nation. It is the only boarding school in that list. One hundred percent of our graduates go on to higher learning. With a teacher/student ratio of 1:4 every St. Michael student receives an almost personalized academic instruction. St. Michael's Preparatory offers a classical curriculum, including the study of Latin, Logic and Philosophy.
St. Michael's boarding school environment and its single-gender education provide a rich culture that both supports and challenges its students. Living together, studying together and growing-up together, all under the watchful care of Norbertine Priests, the students of St. Michael's Preparatory reach a level of maturity which far surpasses that of their peers. A full sports program rounds off the St.Michael education.
All St. Michael’s students plan on going to college. College counseling at St. Michael’s, therefore, focuses on college-readiness (in terms of standardized testing), individual and group advisement regarding college choice, and financial aid support for both the student and his family throughout the college decision-making and application process.
Individual student appointments during the junior and senior years assist students in doing online college searches and in determining which colleges the student will apply. Juniors and seniors go on a formal tour of a local college, attend a College Fair Night, and hear presentations by college reps who visit St. Michael’s during the school year. Students may research individual colleges by viewing the college file and scholarship notebook available in the school library.
St. Michael’s Preparatory School witnesses to the fullness of the Catholic faith and teaches in fidelity to a sound Catholic intellectual tradition. St. Michael’s is exclusively a boarding school for boys, grades nine through twelve, who are capable of benefiting from and contributing to its spiritual and academic community. The School provides the academic attainments necessary for acceptance to a four-year college or undergraduate program at a university in the United States of America. St. Michael’s is served by Norbertine priests and seminarians and by a committed lay faculty and staff.
