Haut-Lac students are encouraged to discover and fulfil their unique potential in our Swiss and international IB World School. We guide them through individual learning pathways to prepare them for future academic, personal and professional success worldwide.

As your local and international school, our mission is two-fold. We work hard both to give our Swiss students a true international experience and to ensure our international students feel at home in the Swiss language and culture. By guiding them through our personalized Infant & Primary programme and high quality International Baccalaureate programmes, as well as providing them with numerous extra-curricular activities to enjoy together at school and in the region.

At Haut-Lac, we are more than just a school. We are a family of educators, students and families who work and play together in English and French. Why? Because with nearly 30 years’ experience in bilingual education, we know that the best language learning takes places when children are happy and feel safe to take language risks in all subjects. Through personalised, innovative approaches, our staff ensure their students are engaged in their learning and having fun as the discover the world around them. And not just in class, but also out and about in the local area and during any number of our 150 extra-curricular clubs and activities.

At Haut-Lac International Bilingual School, we believe that a holistic approach to education is the only way forward. Whilst we understand and appreciate the importance of achieving academically, and are proud of our unique Primary curriculum and six Secondarycurricula, we also know that a well-rounded education requires teaching sport, art, transferable skills and cultural awareness.

Our approach encourages your child to be creative, to develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, to become a leader and team player, and to communicate ideas in more than one language.

As a bilingual IB World School, we believe that true bilingual education is not limited to offering academic instruction in two languages. We offer true bilingual immersion in study, play and daily activities so that, no matter what your child’s language level is today, they will leave our school equipped to live in English and French.

We also run a predominantly English programme for students who come to us with neither English nor French, or whose families are on short-term contracts to Switzerland and plan on returning to study in their respective countries. These students will study all their subjects in English and have one French lesson a day to help them make the most of learning in a bilingual school.

We adapt our teaching approach to the developmental stages of the children and adolescents in our care. Not every method is appropriate for every child, so our teachers focus on identifying and using approaches that will work for each student.
