While Mount Mary officially opened its doors in 1929, the foundation of the university’s traditions date back to 1833 and the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

From the opening of St. Mary’s Institute in Prairie du Chien in 1872 to the celebration of our centennial year in 2013 — and beyond! — Mount Mary boasts a rich legacy that champions social justice, creativity, and a curriculum that focuses not only on professional skills, but also on development of the whole person. Helping students and their families afford higher education is a top priority for us at Mount Mary University. To be considered for financial aid, you are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form will determine your eligibility for federal, state, and institutional grants, loans, and work study.

From New Student Orientation to monthly bingo, we pride ourselves on offering a surplus of on-campus activities. We’re a small, close-knit campus that values relationships and collaboration.

The campus is but a bus ride away from downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s most vibrant and culturally diverse city. From the performing arts to art galleries as well as a variety of festivals (did you know Milwaukee is known internationally as the City of Festivals?), there’s no shortage of entertainment and employment opportunities.

We recognize that the challenges of the undergraduate and graduate university experience along with the many other events also occurring in your life can lead to feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, and stress. Our professional counselors can assist you in your transition and emotional development during college at Mount Mary. Mount Mary’s Counseling Center adheres strictly to the legal standards of the state of Wisconsin and the ethical standards of the counseling profession. Issues discussed during counseling sessions are confidential.
