As part of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funded Research Project, “An Inter-generational Learning and Living Campus: A New Model for Healthy Senior Living and Integrated School Communities across Urban and Regional Australia”, Australian Catholic University is offering one full-time, 3-year PhD scholarship to undertake research into Cooperative Spaces.

Funded by the NHMRC grant, the PhD project is designed to gather multidisciplinary (planning and design) data, experience and knowledge to design and test small case study projects or pilots embedded within community, applying experience and knowledge from successful international cases. The project produces a case study model that will be tested with key industrial partners.

The Cooperative Spaces Project includes a review of existing models of intergenerational, and co-situated or connected senior living and high-school facilities via a range of methodologies, including interactive movement and health behaviour analysis, case study data collection, observations, and key informant interviews and surveys.

The successful applicant will be based in ACU’s School of Behavioural and Health Sciences and will receive supervision from Associate Professor Gert-Jan Pepping, Professor Suzanne Kuys and Dr Rosamund Harrington. The incumbent will also work closely with associate supervisors and external industry advisors.

This project has a number of interstate partners. The applicant will undertake their PhD and will benefit from being part of a research team and working with other PhD students and research technicians.
