To the joy of their parents a pair of twins from Abu Dhabi scored almost similar percentages in the CBSE Grade 10 exams.
While Sai Kiran Jattu scored 94.4 per cent, his sister Sai Vashnavi Jattu is right up close with 94 per cent. The students of Abu Dhabi Indian School Branch 1 in Al Wathba used to study together as well.
The entire family was on conference call since the morning on Wednesday – mother Archina Jattu and father Ajay Jattu, both chartered accountants sitting in their offices and the kids at home – refreshing websites for updates about the announcement of results. And once it was out by noon, the CBSE server crashed. Finally, one of their friends broke the news by 1.30pm.
Kiran scored 96 in English, 86 in Hindi, 100 in Maths, 95 each in Science and Social Science to make a grand total of 472 marks while Vashnavi got 94 in English, 90 in Hindi, 94 in Maths, 97 in Science and 95 in Social Science for an overall score of 470 marks. Jubilant parents immediately rushed home to join their elated children.
Kiran said: “The first thing I searched was my Maths score. And I screamed in joy. I dedicate it to my Maths teacher Remya Shijukumar. We never expected to get the same percentages. It’s a coincidence.”
Vashnavi said she had nightmares till the results were out. “I had seen all kinds of horror dreams. It was a stressful wait and full of prayers,” she said.
Both miss checking the results in school with friends and celebrating with them. However, their parents arranged an online party and an elaborate one is planned for the weekend.
Archina said: “My kids worked hard. They are best of friends. They even fall ill together. And they have guided each other to this achievement.”
