About the scholarship
This scholarship was first offered in 1999 and is sponsored by the Ashurst law firm (formerly Blake Dawson Waldron) in memory of the late Rod Bush, the first managing partner of the Brisbane office.

Rod had the enjoyable task of attracting new articled clerks to what was then an unknown southern firm in Queensland. He looked for students with 'that extra spark of enthusiasm' and was impressed by those who worked hard to put themselves through university while managing to excel academically. Rod passed away in 1998 and is sadly missed by all who worked with him. Ashurst is pleased to dedicate this scholarship in his honour.

The scholarship is available to students who have worked hard to put themselves through university and achieved well academically while overcoming personal, social or economic challenges.

Ashurst has 26 offices in 16 countries, including associated offices in Jakarta and Jeddah, and a best-friends referral relationship with an Indian law firm. With over 400 partners and 1,450 lawyers, Ashurst offers the international insight of a global network combined with local market knowledge and expertise. Ashurst advises Australian and international corporations, financial institutions and government clients.
