The Woodside Women in IT Scholarship has been developed by Woodside Energy Ltd in conjunction with Curtin University to encourage and support women studying IT at Curtin University.

Value
The Woodside Women in IT Scholarship will provide the following support (based on a full-time enrolment of 100 credits):

  • A total value of $6,000 paid as a one-off cash payment. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
  • Woodside will provide the successful recipient with the opportunity to gain an insight into a career in IT, which may include a Woodside Summer Vacation Program placement with Woodside*.

*This provision is conditional upon:

  • The recipient submits an application for the Woodside Summer Vacation Program in accordance with processes published on Woodside's website and in Curtin's advertisement.
  • The recipient successfully meets the required benchmarks for participation in the Woodside Summer Vacation Program; and
  • The recipient successfully meets the due diligence requirements for participation in the Woodside Summer Vacation Program.

This scholarship may also lead to a position in the Woodside Graduate Development Program.

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt
Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:

  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Academic merit
  • Alignment to Woodside's values
  • Interview performance (for shortlisted applicants)

Step 6: Shortlist for Interview

  • Shortlisted applicants sent an interview date and time via student email.
  • Shortlisted applicants must be available for designated interview time
    • Interviews will be scheduled between 7 September - 11 September 2020
  • Unsuccessful applicants will be sent a notification via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS)

Step 7: Outcome
Successful and unsuccessful interview applicants will be notified of their outcome via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) within approximately two weeks of their interview date

Step 8: Acceptance
Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
  • Scholarship will commence from the semester of study for which the scholarship was awarded
  • Scholarship is not transferable to another major, course or university
  • The award and continuity of the scholarship is subject to receipt by Curtin of the scholarship funding from the scholarship sponsor

Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet ALL of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in initial course of study
  • Maintain a full time study load of at least 100 credit points in semester 2, 2020 at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65
  • Pass all units attempted
  • Not apply for or receive any other externally sponsored scholarships whilst in receipt of the Woodside Women in IT Scholarship

Changes to Enrolment
If a recipient intends to change their enrolment, they must also apply in writing to the Scholarships Office ([email protected]) for approval BEFORE the change. The Scholarships Office will advise how the change will affect their scholarship.

Withdrawal or Terminated from units or course: A recipient who withdraws from their units or course of study, or has been terminated from their studies will become ineligible for the continuation of the scholarship, will not receive any further payments and will be required to repay to Curtin University the stipend awarded for that study period if applicable.

Cancellation of Scholarship: Notwithstanding any provision above, Curtin reserves the rights, at its sole discretion, to cancel the award of, or continuity of, the scholarship where the sponsor ceases to fund the scholarship.

  • Bachelor of Science (Computer Systems and Networking)
  • Bachelor of Science (Data Science)
  • Bachelor of Science (Computing)
  • Bachelor of Science (Computer Science)

Double degrees considered for one of the following majors (note you must be enrolled in one of the principal courses above):

  • Information Systems or
  • Information Technology

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet all of following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Woodside Women in IT Scholarship:

  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
  • Enrolled full-time (100 credits) in the second or third year of an eligible degree at Curtin University in semester 2, 2020
  • Have a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65
  • Not currently hold an externally sponsored scholarship

The successful recipient will be required to undergo criminal screening and will be required to provide Woodside with 100 points of Identification and evidence of ability to work in Australia.
