The Richard Langham Memorial Scholarship has been developed to assist a rural or regional student who may otherwise not have an opportunity to study the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) at Curtin University due to financial hardship and has demonstrated academic potential.

Value
The Richard Langham Memorial Scholarship will provide the following support for the expected duration of the undergraduate degree for up to a maximum of four years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):

A total value of up to $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of:

  • $750 per semester in 1st year
  • $750 per semester in 2nd year
  • $500 per semester in 3rd year
  • $500 per semester in 4th year

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt
Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment
Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:

  • Receipt of an offer of a place into an eligible degree at Curtin University in 2021
  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Financial hardship and socioeconomic status
  • Demonstrated academic potential

Step 6: Outcome

  • Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC in mid-January 2021 (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must return acceptance documents by 31 January 2021
  • Deferral of this scholarship is not permitted

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
  • Scholarship will commence from first semester of study
  • Scholarship is not transferable to another university

Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Maintain an enrolment each study period at Curtin University in Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50 each study period
  • Fail no more than one unit each study period

Changes to Enrolment

If a recipient intends to change their enrolment, they must also apply in writing to the Scholarships Office ([email protected]) for approval BEFORE the change. The Scholarships Office will advise how the change will affect their scholarship.

Withdrawal or Terminated from units or course: A recipient who withdraws from their units or course of study, or has been terminated from their studies will become ineligible for the continuation of the scholarship, will not receive any further payments and will be required to repay to Curtin University the stipend awarded for that study period if applicable.

Cancellation of Scholarship: Notwithstanding any provision above, Curtin reserves the rights, at its sole discretion, to cancel the award of, or continuity of, the scholarship where the sponsor ceases to fund the scholarship.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Richard Langham Memorial Scholarship:

  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or Australian permanent humanitarian
  • Selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC to undertake a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) in 2021
  • Relocating from a regional or remote area to commence tertiary studies
  • Financial hardship and low socio-economic status
  • Receive a raw** ATAR of at least 85

** Offers will be made based on raw ATAR scores. The StepUp bonus is not considered when awarding this scholarship.

This scholarship is not deferrable
