UAE, Abu Dhabi: Famed for portraying some of the strongest and fiercest characters in trans-Atlantic masterpieces, including the Hollywood blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger; gritty thriller, Marcella; the 50 Cent-produced ABC series, For Life; and award-winning drama, Top Boy; actor, Nicholas Pinnock, has stepped away from the spotlight to speak to students at Aldar Education about the importance on mental health.
As an ambassador for the mental health charity, Mind UK, Pinnock draws on his own experience with mental health to guide students to speak openly about mental health and encourage them to always ask for help.
Aldar Education sent in videos from its students across its Academies, ADNOC and Charter Schools, to ask the world-renowned actor questions regarding mental health. The questions covered a range of topics including social media, bullying, the recent global pandemic, being male and talking about mental health, and how Nicholas balances work and fun.
Pinnock’s virtual Q&A session was in support of Aldar Education’s Mental Health Awareness Week, which took place from 11 to 16 October and saw numerous initiatives happen across the schools to get students thinking and talking about mental health.
Nicholas Pinnock, Hollywood actor and Mind UK Ambassador, said: “It was an honour to speak to such bright, educated and insightful students as those from Aldar Education. Learning about mental health from a young age is so important and it’s vital we remove any stigma around the subject, allowing for open and honest conversations. It was great to hear all the incredible initiatives Aldar Education has activated not only for the awareness week, but all year long.”
