Maris Stella College

We are leading our future society to be noble and gentle walking with the blessings of mother Mary. Maris Stella College, Negombo was started in 1922 by the Marist Brothers of the Schools, a Catholic Religious Congregation founded in France in 1817. Rev. Bro. Lewis, a Frenchman, was the first Principal. He began the school with eight primary classes.

The College celebrates 100 years in 2022 with its Branch School developing fast in Thimbirigaskatuwa. Both schools serve about 5000 students presently. The Colleges is indebted to parents and Past Pupils for their generous support to its management.

In the present society money and some social factors are considered as one of the most important facts but the level of well being of the student society is decreasing at a high speed when compared with the past. It may be due to lack of guiding of the personal values, visions and, not aligned aims .

Proper education results a person equipped with good characteristics and well being . He is a person who can stand by himself and takes the best decision at the life events. Maris Stella College is a place that provides proper directions and guide to the students equally and encourages to be a mentally strong person with catholic values while he is developing his educational background. By joining the associations, school activities, retreats and other events, students are educated to win their life with true values. The principal, Sectional heads and the rest of the staff members help to enact this environment.

Our mission is enabling a young man with a discerning spirit and Marist Educational culture to have a balanced personality so that he can respond to the signs of the times to make a real difference in our world. Our vision is "Intellectually , emotionally and spiritually developed young man."
