Global Dignity Day at Beaconhouse Private School Al Ain

Global Dignity Day was founded in 2005 by an American entrepreneur, a Finnish academic, and a Norwegian Prince. Human dignity, according to these three friends, was at the heart of meaningful social transformation. They hoped to establish a special day for school-aged children to engage in open discussions about the meaning of dignity.

At Beaconhouse Private School Al Ain, we believe in the same philosophy. Everyone, everywhere is invited to look beyond what divides us and recognise the dignity and humanity we share. Global Dignity Day aims to “instill a positive, inclusive and interconnected sense of value in children that will guide them as they grow”. As such, as a school we celebrated this marvelous day by promoting inclusivity and equality. Our Key Stage Global Dignity Trees acknowledge just that. All students dedicated their precious time to commemorate the occasion by painting their hands, which were then carefully placed in the shape of leaves to adorn our Beaconhouse trees. This act not only promoted unity and togetherness, but also clearly depicted how each student is uniquely valued and appreciated at our school. Like different pieces of a puzzle that perfectly fit when placed together. We are one team, we are one family.
