Following the trend of our English department initiatives, “Beaconhouse Writes” was an amazing success of our 18 authors with their 15 authentic books which are now available on our campus. We started it on September 22nd, and the due date was October 30th. The students were amazingly able to write their own fictional, drama, horror, and sci-fi stories using their grade level rubrics and following their writing Common Core State Standards.

Kindergarten – Global Dignity week was celebrated in the KG section with various activities. Throughout the day students were involved in different activities in their classrooms to give the message of dignity and how everyone should be treated equally. We had parents also involved by placing their hand print on the dignity tree in the hallway of the KG section.
Elementary – To celebrate Dignity Day, the elementary section had an assembly to discuss the importance of dignity and how it affects us all. After the assembly, each class participated in a whole-section puzzle activity where students put different words that represent what dignity means to them. Once finished, puzzle pieces were put together to do one puzzle.

We’re very excited that we will be doing Model United Nations for the first time at BAKIS through the American University of Sharjah. Our students will embark on a life-changing journey that will help them develop confidence in leading others, a stronger awareness of global issues, and the chance to make new friends from around the world. Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve issues raised.

Term 1 was full of fun and exciting field trips. First, our 9-12th graders went skiing at Ski Dubai, where they had a wonderful time playing in the snow. Then the 5-8th graders made their way to Motiongate, where they had a blast experiencing all the exciting rides. Next, the Elementary students had fun at Lego Land, and the KG got to experience the underwater world at the Dubai Aquarium. The students and teachers made some great memories on these trips. We are looking forward to conducting more such events in term 2.

As part of SPEA’s celebration of teachers day, our school had participated with our initiative “Beaconhouse Talks”, under the supervision of Ms. Asma Mostafa. Beaconhouse Talks was mainly organised to enhance our students’ public speaking skills. SPEA’s role model award was held at Sharjah Book Fair on Nov 10, 2022 on the occasion of Teachers Day. Ms. Asma, our English Teacher, had been awarded the second place in this competition by Mr. Ali Al Hosani, The Director of SPEA.

Encouraging fellow student’s participation, maintaining team members’ self-esteem, understanding and running effective meetings are the essential skills of leadership that we noticed in our student, Ms Shahad Mohammed Alobeidli. She made us all very proud by winning the election to become a member of Sharjah Youth Parliament. Her accomplishments and development are without bounds.

Our student council takes a lead in ensuring student voice is effective and that decisions agreed upon are carried out. They liaise with members of the staff Senior Leadership Team and other members of staff on a regular basis to support the continuing improvement of the school. As they participated in several school and community activities, parents’ meeting, Beaconhouse writer, and the UAE National Celebration, as well as their active participation, side by side, with the volunteer team at the People of Determination Expo.

Here at Beaconhouse, we celebrated the UAE’s 51st National Day, our upper grades did some impressive pavilions on the different emirates, and we had some fantastic performances on the main stage. Students enjoyed sharing their knowledge about UAE history, culture, and foods. They also enjoyed entertaining our fellow Beaconites, their families, and distinguished guests with a fashion show, play, songs, and dances.
