GIIS students win G20 ThinQ, an international quiz competition by the Indian Navy

Two Grade 11 students from Global Indian International School, Singapore won the finals of the international round of the G20 ThinQ quiz competition on 23 November 2023.

Organized by the Indian Navy and the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association, the quiz had National and International rounds. In the National round, students from Grades 9 to 12 from 11741 schools across India participated to win a spot at the international round.

In the International Round at New Delhi, GIIS students Sasmit Mohanty and Rusheel Gongular, competed against 22 other international teams from G20+09 nations. After breezing through many initial rounds, they faced stiff competition from 8 other teams from Australia, Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia, European Union, Netherlands, Brazil and India in the finals.

Showing their prowess in Geography, Cinema, General Knowledge and G-20 matters, the Singapore team clinched victory over their closest rivals, Italy and the EU.

Rusheel said, “It was a fantastic experience. We had fun and made a lot of friends.” His teammate Sasmit mentions, “The competition was tough but our aim was to make Singapore and our school proud, and we achieved that.”

Both students received a trophy and prizes from India’s Vice President, Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar.
