Corpus Christi Catholic School was founded by the Presentation Sisters in 1936. Its original site was in Church Street, Bellerive. The school moved to its present location in Alma Street in 1958 when primary classrooms were built. Early childhood classrooms were completed by 1968. In 1974 an adjoining property was acquired and further classrooms were built as our school expanded. Major works in 1986/7 saw the creation of a school hall and canteen.
The former Presentation convent, currently the Administration block, was purchased in 1987. Learning spaces and facilities have continued to grow over many years as the school population grew. The school now has 15 classrooms catering for two streams from Kindergarten to Grade Six with an intake of approximately 450 students.
The Presentation Sisters were an active presence in our school until 1986. They continue to be welcomed for significant events and celebrations. We continue to live out the charism of the Presentation Sisters and follow the example of the foundress, Nano Nagle.
Today, Corpus Christi Catholic School is a vibrant community of learners who have a strong sense of social justice.
Corpus Christi Catholic School is part of the Parish of Bellerive-Lindisfarne and Father Mark Freeman is our Parish Priest. The Sacramental Program is family centred, parish based and school supported. It is overseen by Father Mark and the Sacramental Team. Many students from our school participate in the Sacramental Program each year.
Father Mark’s involvement in our school continually strengthens the bonds of our School-Parish Partnership, which benefits all our students, staff and families.
The primary role of the Parents & Friends (P&F) is to provide a vehicle for information sharing and participation of parents in a spirit of collaboration and common purpose.
Throughout the year the P&F provide many events to enable families to feel part of the school community.
We also assist at school photo days, cater for the Walk to School Breakfast, organise the school disco, cook the AFL Day BBQ and the Shrove Tuesday Pancakes.
Students are given the opportunity to purchase gifts at the Mother’s and Father’s Day stall each year.
Nominations for the Executive Committee are held at the beginning of the year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), along with Expressions of interest for the Yearbook and Fair sub-committees.
Parents are welcome to contact the P&F to offer ideas or support for various events throughout the year.
We encourage parents to come along to our regular meetings or become involved in one of the many events held throughout the year.
