Global Education Leaders Gather in the UAE to Shape the Future of Teaching

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi will welcome some of the most outstanding minds in education as more than 200 international educators from Nord Anglia Education schools will come together for the SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Regional Conference 2025.

Hosted by Nord Anglia International School Abu Dhabi (NAS Abu Dhabi), the event will convene senior school leaders and teachers to explore ‘Leadership in Education’, and will focus on resilience, innovation, and inclusion—key elements that will shape the future of teaching and learning.

A milestone event for NAS Abu Dhabi

Liam Cullinan, Principal of NAS Abu Dhabi, said the conference is an opportunity to share best practices that support student learning.

“Hosting this conference is a real honour for NAS Abu Dhabi and reflects our commitment to fostering an environment where both students and educators can thrive,” Cullinan said. “As a new school, we are proud of both the positive impact we are making and of our ambition to be a leader in education, in Abu Dhabi and globally.”

Driving innovation in teaching and learning

Nord Anglia Education places continuous professional development at the heart of its strategy, ensuring educators have the tools and knowledge to enhance student learning. The upcoming conference will explore AI in education, neurodiversity, inclusive leadership, and other key topics shaping the future of teaching.

With the UAE emerging as a global hub for artificial intelligence, recent initiatives—such as the reconstitution of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council are driving advancements in AI research and education.

“AI is a particularly relevant topic in the UAE, which is among the top 10 countries with the most AI companies per million population,” said Rob Walls, Head of Middle East Schools at Nord Anglia. “With Abu Dhabi positioning itself as a leader in AI and advanced technology, this conference provides an important opportunity for our teachers to explore how AI can be integrated into education to enhance student outcomes. Beyond technology, the conference will also focus on metacognition helping students develop an awareness of their own learning processes to improve problem-solving and critical thinking. Educators will discuss how metacognitive strategies empower students to think critically and adapt to new challenges.

“Through leadership discussions at the conference, our academic staff will explore how to apply Nord Anglia’s latest research on metacognition,” Walls said. “By embedding metacognitive strategies in the classroom, we help students develop the skills to become independent, self-directed learners. While offering a forward-thinking education, we remain committed to supporting skill development, with our Nord Anglia educational framework centred around the continuous growth of the 6 Cs—ensuring our students evolve into critical, creative, committed, and curious learners, while collaborating compassionately both in and outside the classroom. ”

A commitment to excellence in the UAE and beyond

Walls highlighted that hosting the event in Abu Dhabi reflects Nord Anglia Education’s long-term investment in education across the Middle East.

“By bringing this conference to Abu Dhabi, Nord Anglia Education reaffirms its long-term commitment to excellence in the Middle East,” Walls said. “It’s not just about professional development—it’s about shaping the future of education. We are committed to fostering strong partnerships, supporting our teachers with cutting-edge research, and ensuring that our students graduate with the skills they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world.”

The SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Regional Conference 2025 underscores Nord Anglia Education’s commitment to fostering collaboration, leadership, and innovation in teaching. As educators return to their schools, the insights and strategies shared at the conference will have a lasting impact on students’ learning experiences across the region.
